During the launch, Minister Karnavian officially declared the commencement of the initiative, expressing his hope for the program to bring significant improvements to housing quality across the targeted regions. Before the ceremony, the ministers and their delegation conducted an on-site inspection of a beneficiary’s home in Dasan Geria. The structure was in a dire state, featuring makeshift woven bamboo walls, dirt floors, and a dilapidated roof on the verge of collapse.

Highlighting the government’s commitment to improving living standards, the Minister of Home Affairs announced a national target to renovate 400,000 homes this year. He emphasized that the government has been actively identifying severe housing crises across the archipelago, including recent findings in the Siau Tagulandang Biaro (Sitaro) Islands, North Sulawesi. To ensure the program achieves its goals, the Minister of Home Affairs and Minister Sirait plan to conduct working visits to various provinces to monitor progress and ensure that marginalized communities receive the necessary attention.

Minister Karnavian expressed his appreciation for the coordination efforts, noting the collaborative spirit of the event. He remarked on the significant presence of regional leaders, including the Governors of NTB, NTT, Maluku, and North Maluku, which underscores the importance of synergy between central and regional governments in accelerating the renovation of uninhabitable homes.

Looking ahead, the Minister of Home Affairs underscored the necessity for the program—coordinated by the Ministry of PKP—to be executed with precision and timeliness to ensure that families in need gain access to safe and decent housing. By strengthening the partnership between the central government and local authorities, the administration aims to maximize the impact of the BSPS initiative nationwide.
