Director General of Immigration Hendarsam Marantoko has pledged his full support for the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) as it investigates allegations of graft involving the Head of the West Jakarta Class I Special Immigration Office, Ronald Arman Abdullah. The official was apprehended during a sting operation (OTT) conducted by the anti-graft agency late Tuesday (June 2).
Emphasizing a commitment to transparency and institutional reform, Hendarsam stated that his office is granting the KPK full cooperation to expand the investigation, potentially even to other immigration offices across the country if the evidence suggests a wider network.
“In principle, we fully support the KPK’s efforts to uncover any corruption within the Immigration department. During my two months in this position, my primary mission has been to drive positive change and implement a thorough cleanup,” Hendarsam said when contacted on Wednesday (June 3). He further added that if the investigation extends to other regions, the doors of the Immigration office remain wide open for the KPK to proceed.
Despite his firm stance, Hendarsam acknowledged that he is currently awaiting detailed information regarding the case. He noted that existing reports remain fragmented, though the allegations appear to center on the processing of stay permits for foreign nationals (WNA). “I do not have specific details yet as the information is still unconfirmed. It reportedly involves residency permits, but I am not yet clear on the specifics, such as which permits are involved, where, or when these alleged incidents occurred,” he explained.
Hendarsam, who has held the Director General role for only two months, stated that he is currently waiting for an official press release from the KPK to gain a comprehensive understanding of the matter. To ensure the continuity of public services in West Jakarta, he confirmed that he has already prepared a replacement official should Ronald Arman Abdullah be proven guilty of corruption.

Previously, KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo confirmed that Ronald Arman Abdullah was among those secured during the Tuesday night operation at the KPK’s Merah Putih building. “Yes, he is one of them,” Budi stated regarding the West Jakarta Immigration chief.
During the operation, the KPK also detained over a dozen other individuals and confiscated various items as evidence, including motor vehicles and precious metals. “In total, more than a dozen people have been secured in this sting operation. We have also seized evidence consisting of cars, motorcycles, cash in various currencies—including US Dollars and Singapore Dollars—as well as gold bullion,” Budi explained.
The KPK is currently conducting an in-depth investigation to determine the legal status of those involved. Under current regulations, the commission has a 1×24-hour window to finalize its findings following the apprehension. As of now, Ronald Arman Abdullah has yet to provide a public statement regarding the incident, and all detained parties remain under investigation.
