Ujang Hermawan, Acting Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, confirmed that the damage has rendered two lanes impassable, causing significant traffic congestion for vehicles heading towards Depok and surrounding areas. “We understand that public activities have been disrupted by this road collapse. Therefore, immediate traffic regulation and diversions are being implemented to alleviate congestion and ensure the safety of road users. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused,” he stated in a press release on Friday, May 29, 2026.

Comprehensive Traffic Diversion Strategies Implemented

Hermawan urged the public to adjust their travel routes and strictly follow instructions from officers on the ground while restoration efforts are underway. The detailed traffic engineering measures include:

  1. Two-wheeled vehicles are still permitted to use the rightmost lane on Jalan Raya Lenteng Agung.

  2. Situational diversions for motorcycles will guide them through Jalan Gardu, Jalan H. Shibi IV, Jalan H. Shibi II, Jalan H. Shibi, eventually exiting onto Jalan Akses UI.

  3. Four-wheeled vehicles destined for the University of Indonesia (UI) and Depok will be directed to make a U-turn at the Universitas Pancasila Railway Crossing (JPL 23), then proceed via Jalan Lenteng Agung Barat, Jalan Kahfi II, and Jalan Tanah Baru, leading towards Depok Sawangan.

  4. Heavy-duty four-wheeled vehicles will be rerouted from the TB Simatupang Intersection, heading west via the Depok-Antasari (Desari) Toll Road or east via Jalan Raya Bogor or the Jagorawi Toll Road.

Hermawan further added that the road damage was first observed gradually starting Wednesday, May 27, 2026. The South Jakarta Bina Marga Sub-agency promptly initiated preliminary handling using coldmix material to maintain safety and comfort for road users. “The Bina Marga Sub-agency has also coordinated with the South Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency to investigate the root cause of the damage. Based on initial suspicions, the road collapse was triggered by a disruption in the drainage channel located beneath the road surface,” he explained.

20 Officers Deployed to Manage Congestion

Ujang Hermawan assured the public that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is continuously monitoring the situation on site and accelerating the repair process to restore normal traffic flow as quickly as possible. “Currently, we have optimized the deployment of 20 officers on the ground to manage traffic and alleviate congestion throughout the handling process,” he concluded.

Summary

The DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency is currently implementing traffic management and diversions following a road collapse on Jalan Raya Lenteng Agung that has blocked two lanes. To handle the situation, 20 officers have been deployed to manage congestion and facilitate repairs.

Specific traffic engineering measures include permitting motorcycles to use the rightmost lane or diverted routes via Jalan Gardu, while four-wheeled vehicles heading to Depok are being redirected through Jalan Kahfi II and Jalan Tanah Baru.
