The competition saw a massive turnout of 1,620 students from 78 primary schools (SD) and Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) across Surabaya and its surrounding areas. The participants were divided into 73 teams for the U-10 category and 77 teams for the U-12 division, all competing for ultimate glory.

In the U-10 category, SDN Manukan Kulon secured the championship title after a thrilling victory over SDN DR. Sutomo V/327. The match was a true test of grit and perseverance, as SDN Manukan Kulon fought back from a 1-3 deficit to force the game into a tense penalty shootout.

The resilience of the team paid off during the shootout, where they successfully converted two penalties to seal the win, while their opponents managed only one goal from three attempts. Keyvara, the hero of the match for SDN Manukan Kulon, credited their coach’s unwavering motivation for the comeback. “We were trailing, but our coach told us not to give up, to keep fighting until the end. I am so grateful we managed to win,” she said.

The drama continued in the U-12 category, where SDN Pacarkeling V/186 B clinched the title following a nerve-wracking 6-5 penalty shootout victory. Much like the U-10 final, the match ended 1-1 in regular time, leading to a deadlock in the shootout as both teams remained even at 5-5 after the initial six rounds.

Following tournament regulations, the winner was decided by a coin toss, granting SDN Pacarkeling V/186 B the opportunity to take the decisive kick. Darleine Maryam Khairunisa stepped up and successfully converted her attempt, securing the championship and denying SDN Manukan Kulon a double victory across both age groups.

Septyan Kurnia Hardiantoro, the coach of SDN Pacarkeling V/186 B, attributed their success to long-term dedication and rigorous training. “I did not predict we would reach the finals considering the players are only about 10 years old. This is the result of long-term hard work and consistent practice after school,” he explained.

Echoing the sentiment, U-12 Best Player Locita Waranggaini Olah Nismara highlighted the importance of a fighting spirit. “The final was incredibly exciting. When we were down 0-1, I didn’t give up because there was still plenty of time left. We kept encouraging each other, pushed forward, and it led us to the penalty shootout where we ultimately won,” she added.
