Following an intensive overnight search, a joint search and rescue (SAR) team recovered the body of 50-year-old victim, Awal, at around 3:45 AM on Wednesday. Six other individuals caught in the landslide were rescued and immediately transported to Dr. Achmad Mochtar Regional General Hospital in Bukittinggi for urgent medical treatment.

Rahmad Lasmono, Head of the Agam Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), attributed the tragedy to prolonged heavy rainfall in the region. The landslide impacted three separate families residing in the affected homes. The identified survivors currently receiving care are Dayat (33), Noya (35), Safira (1), Yoni (45), Zaki (18), and Kuntum (14).

“The six survivors are currently undergoing medical treatment at the hospital, while one victim, identified as Awal, has been confirmed deceased,” Rahmad stated on Wednesday.

With all affected individuals accounted for, authorities have officially concluded the search and rescue operation. “We have completed the search, and all victims have been found and evacuated,” Rahmad added.

Beyond the destruction of residential property, the landslide has severely disrupted local infrastructure. The debris blocked access at two locations in Nagari Sungai Landia, rendering the road impassable. Consequently, officials are advising motorists traveling between Bukittinggi and Lubuk Basung to utilize alternative routes until the roads are cleared and deemed safe for public use.
