WN Ukraina diculik di Bali: Polisi buru 6 tersangka, bakal terbitkan red notice

Police have successfully identified the individuals responsible for the kidnapping of Ukrainian national IK in Jimbaran, Badung Regency, Bali, on Sunday, February 15. A disturbing video featuring IK, where he confessed to being abducted and pleaded for ransom, had previously gone viral across social media platforms, sparking widespread concern.

The perpetrators have been identified as six foreign nationals (WNA) with the initials RM, VK, AS, VN, SM, and DH. Authorities are now actively pursuing these suspects. “We have designated these six individuals as suspects, and today we will coordinate to issue a Wanted List (DPO) and an Interpol Red Notice to seek their whereabouts,” stated Kombes Ariasandy, Head of Public Relations for the Bali Regional Police (Polda Bali), from the Polda Bali headquarters on Friday, February 27.

Based on immigration records, police have noted that four of the suspected perpetrators have already fled to Malaysia via I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport. The remaining two suspects are believed to still be within Indonesian territory.

Kidnappers’ Identities Uncovered Through Vehicle Rental

The identities of the kidnappers were unraveled thanks to crucial surveillance camera footage. The CCTV captured the movements of an Avanza vehicle and two motorcycles in the Tabanan Regency area, as well as near the victim’s accommodation in the Badung Regency. This pivotal evidence allowed investigators to trace their activities.

Further investigation revealed that the Avanza had been rented by a foreign national identified only as C, who used a falsified passport. While police have not officially disclosed C’s nationality, information gathered by Kumparan suggests C is from Nigeria.

Police apprehended C in a region of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) on February 23. During questioning, C claimed to have been hired by someone to rent the vehicle for IDR 6 million, asserting that he was unaware the vehicle would be used for a kidnapping.

Currently, C holds the status of a witness in the kidnapping case. However, authorities have since named C as a suspect for passport forgery. “Starting from that lead, we traced and found the vehicle was rented by a foreign national. We then delved into this foreign national’s testimony; they had left and subsequently landed in the NTB region, where we secured them some time ago,” the police explained.

Confession Video Suspected to be Recorded in Tabanan Villa

Police strongly suspect that the viral video showing IK’s confession was recorded at a villa in Tabanan Regency. This conclusion is based on forensic evidence, including GPS data from the Avanza car, which indicated a stop at a Tabanan villa. Furthermore, bloodstains discovered inside the villa were found to be identical to those found within the vehicle, providing compelling evidence of the location.

“We were able to track where this vehicle stopped using GPS, including at one of the villas in Tabanan. We also checked the villa and found blood samples there. This blood was identical to the blood found in the vehicle,” the police elaborated.

IK’s Whereabouts Remain Unknown Amidst Separate Investigation

As of now, investigators have not yet managed to pinpoint the exact location of the victim, IK. However, immigration records for foreign nationals suggest that IK is likely still within Indonesia. “The victim’s whereabouts are certainly still within our territory. Since their identity is registered with immigration, it’s improbable they could have left our borders undetected,” Ariasandy confirmed.

In a separate, unsettling development, a mutilated human body, comprising a head and torso, was discovered at the mouth of the Wos River, Banjar Keden, or Ketewel Beach, Desa Ketewel, Sukawati District, Gianyar Regency, Bali, on Thursday, February 26, around 10:00 AM WITA.

Ariasandy could not immediately confirm whether the dismembered remains belong to IK. Nevertheless, police are actively collecting DNA samples from the body parts and from IK’s parents to ascertain the identity definitively. “These are two distinct cases. We are proceeding with the kidnapping investigation. Regarding the discovery of the body parts, we are in the process of identifying whose body it is by matching DNA, including matching it with the DNA of the victim’s parents,” he clarified.

In connection with the kidnapping of Ukrainian national IK, the six identified perpetrators face charges under Article 450 of the new Indonesian Criminal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of 12 years imprisonment.

Summary

Ukrainian national IK was kidnapped in Bali on February 15, with six foreign nationals identified as suspects behind the incident following a viral ransom video. Police are issuing a Wanted List and an Interpol Red Notice for the perpetrators, four of whom have fled to Malaysia while two are believed to be in Indonesia. The suspects were identified through CCTV footage of a rented Avanza and motorcycles; a foreign national named C was arrested for renting the vehicle using a falsified passport.

Investigators suspect IK’s ransom video was recorded at a Tabanan villa, evidenced by GPS data and matching bloodstains. Although IK’s whereabouts remain unknown, authorities believe he is still within Indonesia based on immigration records. Police are also investigating whether a mutilated body discovered on February 26 is IK, pending DNA results, while currently treating it as a separate case.
