Volume kendaraan di Tol Cipali melonjak 80 persen, 108 ribu kendaraan melintas

The Cikopo-Palimanan (Cipali) Toll Road is currently experiencing a significant surge in traffic volume as travelers embark on their journeys for the upcoming Eid al-Fitr 1447 H celebrations. As of Wednesday evening, March 18th, authorities reported a remarkable 80 percent increase in vehicle volume compared to the previous day, indicating the peak of the pre-Eid exodus.

Ardam Rafif Trisilo, Head of Sustainability Management & Corporate Communications at Astra Tol Cipali, provided insightful details on this heightened activity. Data collected between midnight and 8:00 PM WIB revealed that a staggering 108,000 vehicles had already passed through the former Cikopo Toll Gate, traveling from Jakarta towards Cirebon.

“Traffic volume has increased by up to 80 percent compared to the same period on the previous day,” Ardam stated in an official release received on Wednesday night. He further elaborated that the average vehicle flow had reached approximately 5,400 units per hour, underscoring the intense movement across this vital toll artery.

Despite this substantial spike in traffic, the overall flow remained largely smooth and manageable. However, Ardam acknowledged intermittent slowdowns in specific sections, primarily attributed to the sheer density of vehicles navigating the one-way lane.

To ensure continued smooth passage and enhance road safety, Astra Tol Cipali strongly urges motorists to refrain from stopping on the shoulder of the road unless in an absolute emergency. This critical directive aims to prevent obstructions and minimize the risk of accidents, especially considering that many journeys occur during nighttime hours. Drivers are also reminded not to push themselves if fatigue sets in.

“We appeal to road users to pull over and rest immediately in a safe location if they feel drowsy,” Ardam added. He further advised that if designated rest areas are at full capacity, drivers should exit at the nearest toll gate to find a suitable place to rest off the main toll route.

Crucially, Astra Tol Cipali confirmed that drivers who temporarily exit the toll road to rest will not incur additional charges upon re-entry. This assurance is provided because the Trans-Java Toll Road operates on a closed system, where tariffs are calculated based on the actual distance traveled, offering peace of mind to weary travelers.

Ahead of their journey, Astra Tol Cipali also reminds all travelers to conduct thorough preparations. This comprehensive checklist includes ensuring the driver’s physical fitness, the vehicle’s optimal condition, sufficient fuel (or electric vehicle power), and an adequate balance on their electronic money cards.

For immediate emergency assistance or the latest traffic updates, road users can reach the Astra Tol Cipali call center at 0260-7600-600 or connect via WhatsApp at 0811-2347-600. These channels are available to support a safe and comfortable Eid journey for all.
