The Jakarta Provincial Education Department has launched a swift follow-up action regarding the damage inflicted upon the facilities of SMPN 182 Jakarta Selatan. This immediate response comes after a 5.3-meter-high residential boundary wall collapsed onto the school premises on Sunday, February 15th. Fortunately, the incident occurred during a school holiday, a crucial factor that prevented any casualties or injuries to students and staff.
Budiyono, Head of the Infrastructure and Educational Facilities Management Unit for the Jakarta Provincial Education Department, provided a detailed account of the event. “The wall collapsed on Sunday, February 15th, at 11:22 AM,” Budiyono stated on Monday, February 16th. He further clarified, “The wall, owned by Ms. Sofiana and Mr. Suprayitno, measured 5.3 meters in height and approximately 60 meters in length, subsequently crashing onto the fence of SMPN 182 and partially impacting a small section of the school’s guard room.”
Emphasizing the limited extent of the damage, Budiyono affirmed that the primary school building remained largely unaffected. He reiterated that the structural impact was confined predominantly to the school’s perimeter fence and a minor portion of the guard room, reassuring the public that the core educational facilities were spared any significant harm.

Following the incident, the department swiftly initiated extensive inter-agency coordination efforts. Budiyono detailed these collaborations, which included working alongside the Sub-district Education Office (Sudin), local Police Sector (Polsek), community policing officers (Babinsa), the District Disaster Management Forum (FKDM) of Kalibata sub-district, and the Public Order Agency (Satpol PP). The initial steps involved immediate actions such as dredging by the Water Resources Department (SDA) to clear ditches and prevent potential flooding, followed by comprehensive cleaning operations to remove debris.
Beyond the immediate cleanup, the department has outlined further steps for facility restoration. Plans include the prompt installation of a temporary fence in the affected area to secure the premises. Concurrently, the Facilities and Infrastructure Unit (Sarpras) and the Sudin are conducting a thorough inventory of all damages. This detailed assessment is crucial as all necessary repair work will be fully undertaken and funded by the wall owners, Ms. Sofiana and Mr. Suprayitno.

The department is aiming for a rapid resolution, with a specific target set for the completion of all repairs. “We are targeting completion by February 23rd,” Budiyono confirmed, ensuring that the necessary renovations are finished before the resumption of learning activities at SMPN 182 Jakarta Selatan. He further assured that all expenses related to the damage and subsequent repairs will be entirely covered by the owners of the collapsed wall, reiterating a commitment to restore the school’s facilities without burdening public funds.
