The figure known as Dokter Detektif, or Doktif, has publicly addressed the recent detention of entrepreneur Richard Lee by the Metro Jaya Police. Richard Lee was officially taken into custody on Saturday, March 7th, following his designation as a suspect in a case involving alleged violations of consumer protection laws.
Doktif expressed profound relief, stating that his long-fought battle to uncover the truth has finally yielded results. “It has been quite exhausting fighting this individual. But today, I feel an immense sense of release. The Indonesian public, who have been victims of the suspect DRL’s lies and deceptive rhetoric, finally have their answers,” Doktif remarked, emphasizing the culmination of his efforts.
Furthermore, Doktif extended his deep appreciation to the investigators at the Metro Jaya Police, commending their unwavering commitment to justice. He firmly believes in the integrity of the law, asserting that it stands unyielding and impervious to external influence. “My appreciation goes to the Metro Jaya Police, whom I believe have made an extraordinary breakthrough. Despite the pressures I am aware of, the Metro Jaya Police have demonstrated remarkable strength. From the outset, I was confident that the Metro Jaya Police could not be swayed by any party,” Doktif emphatically stated.

Doktif also sharply criticized the “buzzers” who have consistently defended the suspect, DRL. He urged them to acknowledge the significant harm inflicted upon society. “I apologize to DRL’s buzzers, but please understand that being a buzzer for such activities is ill-gotten gain. Open your eyes and hearts. So many Indonesian citizens have become victims, with hundreds of billions [rupiah] already taken,” Doktif warned, highlighting the ethical implications of their actions.
During a press conference, Doktif presented crucial evidence, including a product called Goddess Hair Intensive Scalp Treatment. This product was marketed with claims of containing specific ingredients, yet laboratory test results revealed the opposite. “After lab tests, it was claimed to contain Ascorbic Acid, but it turns out there was never any Ascorbic Acid present. What does this signify? Doktif suspects the scale of this deception extends further, potentially involving his own factory. The composition he claimed to be inside was simply not there, not detected,” Doktif explained, exposing the alleged product mislabeling.

Doktif attributed Richard Lee’s detention to his perceived lack of cooperation during his mandatory reporting period. “He was required to report every Monday and Thursday, but he failed to comply. Often, if it was Monday-Thursday, he would only show up on Thursday, or even delay until the following week. He was dismissive, and that is likely one of the reasons for his current detention,” Doktif clarified, shedding light on the circumstances leading to the arrest.
Despite his satisfaction, Doktif confessed to feeling a degree of sadness, acknowledging DRL as a fellow medical professional. “Honestly, Doktif is conflicted; there’s happiness mixed with sadness. Why sadness? After all, DRL is a doctor. Yet, despite Doktif reporting him to the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) three years ago, there was no reprimand whatsoever. Even after formal hearings, he repeated the same mistakes, only to exacerbate them,” Doktif lamented, expressing his disappointment over the apparent lack of professional accountability.
Doktif confirmed that he had witnessed DRL during the detention process. He noted that DRL was handcuffed but not yet wearing the standard orange prisoner’s vest. “Yes, he was handcuffed just now, but not wearing the orange uniform. Perhaps because there was no orange vest available, so he was handcuffed and kept out of sight,” Doktif recounted, detailing his observation.
The legal proceedings against Richard Lee originated from a report filed by Doktif himself. Richard Lee’s products were allegedly found to contain ingredients or make claims that did not align with applicable permits and regulations. Furthermore, there were accusations of freely marketing products that should have been subject to stringent medical supervision, selling them directly to the public without proper oversight.
Based on these findings, Richard Lee has been charged under Article 435 in conjunction with Article 138 paragraph 2 of Law No. 17 Year 2023 concerning Health, which carries a maximum penalty of 12 years imprisonment. Additionally, he faces charges under the Consumer Protection Law for allegedly causing both material and health-related harm to the public, underscoring the severity of the accusations against him.
