The revered wife of former National Police Chief General (Ret.) Hoegeng Iman Santoso, Meriyati Roeslani – affectionately known as Meri Hoegeng – has passed away at the age of 100 due to illness. Her passing was confirmed on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at 13:24 WIB. She is scheduled to be laid to rest on Wednesday, February 4, in Tajurhalang, Bogor, in close proximity to the grave of her esteemed husband, General Hoegeng.
Meri Hoegeng breathed her last at the Kramatjati Police Hospital in East Jakarta. Prior to her burial, her body will be reposed at the funeral home in Pesona Khayangan Stete, Depok. Reports indicate that the body arrived at the funeral home around 16:12 WIB.
The solemn atmosphere at the funeral home in Depok was marked by the presence of numerous police officers who respectfully carried the coffin. Several members of Bhayangkari, the police wives’ association, also gathered to pay their respects. Among those observed at the residence was Depok Police Chief Kombes Pol Abdul Waras, underscoring the significance of Meri Hoegeng’s legacy within the police community.
Further preparations were evident with chairs meticulously arranged in Meri’s house yard, while the road leading to her residence was temporarily closed to accommodate visitors. A poignant display of condolence wreaths lined the front of the late matriarch’s home, prominently featuring a message of deep sympathy from the current National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo. This outpouring of grief reflects the enduring respect held for Meri Hoegeng and her late husband.
The news of Meri Hoegeng’s passing was officially confirmed by the Head of Kramatjati Police Hospital, Brigjen Pol Prima Heru Yulihartono. He stated, “Mrs. Meriyati Hoegeng (100 years old) passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at 13:24 WIB due to illness.” This official announcement provides clarity on the details of her peaceful departure.
