The Bekasi Timur Station has been temporarily closed following a significant train collision involving the KA Argo Bromo Anggrek and the KRL Kampung Bandan-Cikarang service. The incident, which occurred on Monday, April 27, has led to immediate operational disruptions, with the duration of the station’s closure yet to be determined, as confirmed by PT KAI President Director Bobby Rasyidin.
During a press conference held at Bekasi Timur Station on Tuesday, April 28, Rasyidin emphasized the interim measure. He stated, “We need to announce that Bekasi Timur Station will be temporarily closed for commuter line services until a new timeline is established.” This underscores the ongoing efforts to manage the aftermath of the severe incident.
Consequently, the operational scope for KRL services has been significantly shortened. Rasyidin clarified that “future services will only extend as far as Bekasi Station,” indicating a temporary rerouting and reduction in the commuter train network’s reach for passengers.
Addressing the human toll, Rasyidin tragically reported that the collision has resulted in five fatalities so far. Additionally, a substantial number of individuals sustained injuries, with 79 people suffering minor injuries, highlighting the severity of the impact.
Investigations into the collision’s impact also revealed that the specifically affected carriage was the women-only carriage, which was located at the rear of one of the trains involved. This detail provides a clearer picture of the incident’s physical consequences on the train’s structure and its passengers.
