The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) have apprehended two individuals suspected of involvement in the tragic death of Private First Class (Pratu) Ferischal Alfarizky Abelsa, 23, a member of the Sriwijaya II Military Health Command (Kesdam II/Sriwijaya). Pratu Ferischal was allegedly shot at a Palembang nightclub. The two individuals taken into custody have been identified as Sergeant First Class (Sertu) MRR, a fellow TNI member, and DS, a civilian.
Brigadier General (Brigjen) TNI Donny Pramono, Head of the Army Information Service (Kadispenad), stated that preliminary suspicions point to Sertu MRR and DS as the perpetrators. DS is further suspected of concealing the firearm used in the incident. “Preliminary suspects are Sertu MRR and DS, who is suspected of hiding the firearm evidence,” Donny confirmed in a statement on Sunday (May 17).
Denpom II/4 Palembang has launched a comprehensive investigation, conducting a meticulous crime scene examination, interviewing 21 witnesses, securing crucial CCTV footage, and coordinating with Bhayangkara Hospital for the autopsy. The detailed autopsy findings revealed that the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the lower right abdomen, which tragically penetrated the liver and the left lung, leading to severe internal bleeding.
Further progress in the investigation includes the recovery of the bullet projectile from the victim’s body during the autopsy. This projectile is currently awaiting ballistic test results from the South Sumatra Regional Police forensic laboratory. Additionally, a homemade “lighter-type” firearm, believed to be the weapon used, was discovered at DS’s residence in Srimulya, Sematang Borang, on Saturday night at 8:15 PM WIB.
Sertu MRR was successfully apprehended in the parking area of Bhayangkara Hospital. Currently, both suspects, along with several key witnesses, are being held securely at Madenpom II/4 Palembang for intensive questioning and further investigative procedures. This ensures a thorough examination of all available evidence and testimonies.
The Indonesian Army has unequivocally committed to handling this case with utmost diligence and transparency. Major General Ujang Darwis, Commander of Military Region II/Sriwijaya (Pangdam II/Sriwijaya), has specifically ordered his ranks, including the Assistant Intelligence Chief and Military Police Commander, to pursue the investigation until a complete resolution is reached. The case against MRR will be transferred to the Otmil I-05 Plg military court as soon as possible, while DS’s case is scheduled for handover to the Palembang City Police today.
Amidst the ongoing investigation, a solemn military funeral for the late Pratu Ferischal Alfarizky Abelsa was conducted on Saturday afternoon, May 16, at 5:45 PM WIB. The dignified ceremony took place at TPU Sematang Borang, Palembang, as confirmed by Donny.
Pratu Ferischal’s death was initially reported after he was allegedly shot by a fellow TNI member at Cafe Panhead, located on Jalan Alamsyah Ratu Prawira Negara, Ilir Barat I District, Palembang. The tragic incident is believed to have stemmed from an altercation between the victim and the alleged perpetrator at the nightlife venue. Despite being rushed to Permata Palembang Hospital for urgent medical attention, Pratu Ferischal unfortunately succumbed to the severe gunshot wounds he sustained.
