The Propam Division of the Maluku Regional Police has scheduled a code of ethics trial for Bripda MS, a Brimob officer accused of fatally assaulting an MTs student in Tual. The critical hearing is set for Monday (February 23) afternoon, deliberately timed to accommodate the arrival of the victim’s family, who are being flown directly from Tual to Ambon.
Kombes Pol Rositah Umasugi, Head of Public Relations for the Maluku Regional Police, confirmed that the trial would commence at 2:00 PM Eastern Indonesia Time (WIT) in the Propam Division courtroom at the Maluku Regional Police headquarters. This specific timing, she elaborated, was a thoughtful consideration of the transportation logistics for the grieving family.
The Maluku Regional Police Chief personally facilitated the travel arrangements for the victim’s parents and elder sibling from Tual to Ambon. Their journey serves a dual purpose: to attend the poignant trial and to receive crucial referred medical treatment for the sibling.
Rositah further detailed the meticulous arrangements, explaining that the family’s flight from Tual was scheduled for 11:00 AM WIT. Upon their arrival at Ambon airport, they would be met by the Head of the Hospital, ensuring a seamless transfer. This comprehensive logistical support underscores the police’s commitment to the victim’s family during this difficult period.
Following their arrival in Ambon, the victim’s sibling will be immediately directed to a Military Hospital. There, they are slated to receive specialized care for a bone fracture, utilizing the hospital’s more advanced treatment facilities. Once their medical needs are addressed, the family will proceed directly to the trial venue.
“They will go straight to the trial,” Rositah emphasized, reiterating the reason for the afternoon schedule. “While we could have scheduled it for the morning, the victim’s family would not have been able to attend. So, it was specifically set after 2:00 PM to ensure their presence.”
The Maluku Regional Police has publicly declared its firm commitment to swiftly and transparently resolving this ethical violation. The authorities aim to reach a verdict on the very same day the trial concludes.
“We are striving to obtain a verdict immediately after the trial today. We are committed to handling this case transparently, with nothing concealed,” Rositah asserted, highlighting the institution’s dedication to justice.
The gravity of the incident stems from allegations that Bripda MS assaulted 14-year-old Arianto Tawakal with a steel helmet, resulting in the victim’s death on Thursday (February 19). In a thorough investigation, police have conducted marathon interrogations of 14 witnesses regarding the tragic incident, building a comprehensive understanding of the events that transpired.
