Seskab Teddy cek pembangunan hunian untuk warga bantaran rel Senen

Jakarta, Indonesia – Cabinet Secretary (Seskab) Lieutenant Colonel Teddy Indra Wijaya recently conducted a direct inspection of the progress of a crucial housing development project. This initiative aims to provide suitable residences for communities currently living adjacent to the railway tracks in the vicinity of Pasar Senen Station, Jakarta. The visit took place on Saturday, April 25.

During his comprehensive review, Secretary Wijaya was accompanied by Bobby Rasyidin, the President Director of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI), the national railway company. Details of this important oversight were shared publicly via the official Instagram account of the Cabinet Secretariat, @sekretariat.kabinet.

In a statement issued after the inspection, Teddy Indra Wijaya underscored that this significant housing development is a direct response to the directive from President Prabowo Subianto. The President’s vision focuses on enhancing the quality of life for residents who have long endured challenging conditions in vulnerable areas, particularly those living precariously close to railway lines.

“In line with President Prabowo’s directive, the government is committed to constructing decent and comfortable housing for citizens who have historically resided right by the railway tracks, specifically in the Pasar Senen area, a mere 2 kilometers from the heart of the capital city,” Teddy explained through the Cabinet Secretariat’s social media update, highlighting the project’s strategic location and importance.

Secretary Wijaya further elaborated on the dire circumstances faced by these residents, who have long lived alongside the railway with severely limited basic amenities. He painted a stark picture of their daily struggles, emphasizing the urgency of the intervention.

“For decades, a significant number of residents have lived right by the railway, lacking proper roofing, without access to clean water, and deprived of adequate sanitation facilities,” he stated, highlighting the long-standing neglect and the need for immediate action.

Moreover, Teddy revealed that President Prabowo himself had previously made a personal visit to the settlement site, underscoring the President’s deep concern and direct engagement with the issue. This unannounced presidential visit demonstrated a proactive approach to understanding the community’s needs firsthand.

“The President himself paid a surprise visit to the residential area exactly one month ago, on March 26, 2026,” Teddy added, pointing to the specific date of the President’s personal assessment of the area’s conditions.

The new housing units, according to Teddy, are being constructed in close proximity to the residents’ original location, ensuring minimal disruption while providing significantly improved and more adequate facilities. This thoughtful placement aims to maintain community ties while upgrading living standards.

“The site for these new homes is strategically located approximately 500 meters from the Pasar Senen railway tracks. It will feature comprehensive housing facilities, including sanitation, clean water access, places of worship, children’s play areas, and various other essential amenities,” he detailed, emphasizing the holistic approach to community well-being.

Teddy further clarified that the construction of this vital urban revitalization project is proceeding with remarkable speed, a testament to the effective collaboration between government bodies and several key state-owned enterprises (BUMNs). This partnership model is crucial for accelerating development initiatives.

“The construction is being executed swiftly, thanks to the strong cooperation between the Ministry of Housing and several relevant state-owned enterprises,” Teddy affirmed, commending the synergistic efforts driving the project’s rapid progress.

Looking ahead, Teddy Indra Wijaya also indicated that similar settlement improvement programs are planned for phased implementation across various other regions. This signals a broader commitment to enhancing residential quality nationwide.

“The rearrangement of settlements to create more livable conditions will also be carried out in other locations, gradually and periodically,” he concluded, outlining the government’s long-term strategy for sustainable urban development and community welfare across Indonesia.
