According to Ipda Breggy Yesaya Imanuel, Head of the Resmob Sub-directorate Team at the Jakarta Metro Police, the perpetrator, MIA, confessed to carrying out the assault while under the influence of alcohol. “The suspected perpetrator stated that he was under the influence of alcoholic beverages or hard liquor,” Breggy confirmed during an interview at the Jakarta Metro Police Headquarters on Wednesday (May 27).

Following an intensive investigation, MIA was apprehended by the Ditreskrimum team of the Jakarta Metro Police in the early hours of Monday (May 25) in the Kebayoran Lama area, also in South Jakarta. The investigation, given the time elapsed since the May 6th incident, has primarily focused on the examination of the suspected perpetrator, MIA.

The arrest of MIA, suspected of involvement in the fatal assault of his Bruneian compatriot, MHF, was previously announced by AKBP Resa Fiardi Marasabessy, Head of Sub-directorate III Tahbang/Resmob Ditreskrimum at the Jakarta Metro Police. Resa elaborated on Tuesday (May 26) that the suspect was secured following an extensive police investigation into the alleged criminal act. “The team has secured one suspect related to the alleged criminal act of assault resulting in death,” Resa confirmed.

The tragic confrontation unfolded on Wednesday, May 6, at approximately 03:30 AM Western Indonesian Time, directly in front of Restu Sport, located within the Blok M Hub in Melawai Village, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta. The incident reportedly began with a verbal argument between the victim and the perpetrator. This escalated into violence when MIA allegedly struck MHF on the head using a paper bag that contained a glass bottle.

Following the brutal attack, the victim, MHF, fell into a coma and received intensive medical treatment at Pertamina Central Hospital (RSPP) for 10 days. Despite medical efforts, MHF’s condition progressively worsened, tragically leading to his death on May 16, 2026.
