Sarwendah Denies Blocking Ruben Onsu from Seeing Their Children

Sarwendah’s legal counsel, Chris Sam Siwu, has vehemently denied allegations that Ruben Onsu is being hindered from meeting their children. Siwu conveyed this refutation during a press conference held in South Jakarta on Sunday, May 31.

In his statement, Chris firmly asserted that his client has never once attempted to complicate Ruben Onsu’s access to their children.

“Where is the proof of hindrance?” Chris challenged, adding, “Our client has unequivocally stated to us that not a single day has been closed off for the father to take the children.”

Sarwendah’s Stance on Child Visitation Agreement

According to Sarwendah’s legal team, the arrangements for child meetings and communication have been formally stipulated in a notarized deed of agreement.

This deed explicitly states that Ruben Onsu is entitled to meet his children two or three days a week. The agreement was duly formalized and mutually consented to by both parties following their decision to divorce.

Furthermore, Chris assured that Sarwendah has never forbidden Ruben from seeing their children, provided such visits occur during his free time and do not conflict with the children’s lesson schedules.

“So, I emphasize once again, absolutely nothing is being made difficult,” Chris declared. “If there is any difficulty, please present the evidence.”

He further elaborated on his client’s unwavering position: “Our client has unequivocally stated to us, ‘We do not make it difficult for even one day; if he wishes to come, please do; if he wishes to see them, please do; if he wishes to meet them, please do, but it must not clash with existing schedules.'”

To avoid instigating new issues, another of Sarwendah’s lawyers, Abraham Simon, affirmed that his client has diligently adhered to every stipulation outlined in the deed, including the provision of designated meeting times for Ruben with the children.

“Our client believes that this is a relationship between a father and his children, a mother and her children. Why should the days be strictly regulated?” Abraham Simon explained. “It’s merely a matter of communication. If he wishes to meet them, he is welcome to come. He can contact the children directly.”

He further noted that the deed grants the widest possible opportunities for interaction, whether through indirect telephone calls or direct personal visits, confirming that these provisions are clearly established.

However, Simon then revealed a significant counter-claim: despite these clear provisions, Ruben has, in fact, never appeared to meet his children.

“But has the father ever come to the house to request a meeting or sent a WhatsApp message to Sarwendah?” Simon concluded, answering his own question, “Never.”

Ruben Onsu and Sarwendah officially divorced on September 24, 2024. Custody of their children was granted to Sarwendah as the mother. This verdict was delivered by default by the South Jakarta District Court.
