Ahmad Sahroni, the Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the House of Representatives (DPR), has drawn significant attention to the perplexing case involving Mohammad Hisabul Huda, an honorary teacher who currently faces accusations as a suspect at the Probolinggo District Attorney’s Office (Kejari). Huda is embroiled in corruption allegations linked to his salary, stemming from his dual roles as both a local village assistant and an honorary teacher at SDN Brabe 1 Maron, Probolinggo.
Sahroni has proactively urged the East Java High Prosecutor’s Office (Kejati Jatim) to meticulously follow the directives issued by the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung). He stressed the paramount importance of assessing the case comprehensively and proportionally, expressing his strong conviction that there was no malicious intent behind Huda’s actions.
“I wholeheartedly support the decisive action taken by the Attorney General’s Office, channeled through the East Java High Prosecutor’s Office, which has clearly and conscientiously reviewed and resolved this matter,” Sahroni stated in his remarks on Wednesday (February 25). He further elaborated on the Kejagung’s thorough examination, which concluded that there was no malicious intent whatsoever, and crucially, that the sources of Huda’s salaries were entirely distinct. “Therefore, it is truly inappropriate for the individual concerned to be subjected to legal proceedings. The Attorney General’s Office’s proactive and considered approach is indeed exceptionally precise,” he added.
Law Must Be Firm, Yet Empathetic
As the Treasurer General of the NasDem Party, Sahroni emphatically reiterated that the bedrock of law enforcement must always be substantive justice, particularly when dealing with the most vulnerable segments of society. He underscored the critical need for legal processes to be both unyielding in their principles and compassionate in their application.
“The law must indeed be firm, but it must equally possess empathy. We are obligated to distinguish clearly between actions genuinely intended to defraud the state and those that are not. We must prevent the law from becoming so rigid that it inadvertently erodes the fundamental sense of justice for struggling ordinary citizens,” Sahroni asserted, advocating for a more humane and discerning approach to justice.
