Indonesia National Team defender, Rizky Ridho, has warmly welcomed the return of Elkan Baggott to the Garuda squad. Ridho expressed both his pleasure and eagerness to once again play alongside the formidable defender, who currently plies his trade in England.
According to Ridho, Baggott’s extensive experience in overseas competitions offers a significant advantage for the Indonesia National Team. He has observed remarkable development in the 2002-born player, noting improvements in both his skill set and overall match experience.
“I am truly delighted; he has grown significantly and continues to develop,” Ridho remarked during a press briefing following a training session at Stadion Madya, GBK, in Central Jakarta on Tuesday, March 24th. “I look forward to learning from him again, as he has honed his skills effectively in England, naturally gaining a wealth of experience. I’m very pleased he’s been given this opportunity to return.”
Shifting focus, Ridho also assured that the players’ physical condition remains optimal following the Eid holiday break. He revealed that the coaching staff had implemented a specialized training program during the off-period, specifically designed to prevent any decline in the athletes’ fitness levels.
“Alhamdulillah (Thank God), everything is safe and sound,” he stated. “We were provided with a specific program during our week-long break before joining the National Team. This ensured our physical condition didn’t diminish, and we are now fully prepared for this training camp.”
Addressing preparations under the new coach, John Herdman, Ridho commented that training sessions have progressed smoothly, despite the relatively brief preparation period. He specifically highlighted Herdman’s notably more detailed approach and the significantly higher intensity of training.
“He is a very detailed person; he loves details, and the training intensity is much higher than what we’re typically used to,” Ridho elaborated.
Ridho also shared insights into an innovative aspect of the recent training sessions: the coaching staff’s use of visual media to explain tactical concepts before each session commences.
“He brings a TV onto the field, allowing us to visually review the specific tactics he wants us to implement for the day’s training,” he explained. “It’s a more detailed approach, and it’s certainly a first-time experience for me.”
As the team gears up for their upcoming matches, Ridho made a heartfelt appeal for unwavering fan support, crucial for the Indonesia National Team to perform at their absolute best.
“We humbly request your prayers and continued support for our future improvement,” he urged. “Regardless of who the coach is, please show your backing and support. We are committed to fighting tirelessly and giving our all for this nation.”
