The latest weather advisory from the Class 1 Hang Nadim Batam Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) provides a comprehensive outlook for the day.

According to the BMKG’s forecast, the Riau Islands region is set to experience thick clouds for most of the day. While light rain is anticipated in several areas, Batam specifically faces the likelihood of intermittent light showers throughout the entire day, from morning until the early hours of Sunday.

Temperatures across Kepri are expected to range comfortably between 24 and 33 degrees Celsius. Wind speeds, meanwhile, will vary, particularly in coastal zones where stronger gusts might be felt.

The BMKG attributes the less-than-optimal formation of rain clouds in the Riau Islands to low humidity levels in the upper atmospheric layers. This condition plays a crucial role in shaping the day’s weather patterns.

“Generally, the weather in the Riau Islands today is predicted to be cloudy with a potential for light to moderate rain in some areas, driven by local convective activity,” stated the Forecaster on Duty at BMKG Hang Nadim in their narrative weather report on Saturday, April 4.

Furthermore, the BMKG has issued an early warning for moderate rain accompanied by strong winds, specifically targeting the districts of Lingga and Tanjung Balai Karimun. This advisory urges residents in these areas to exercise particular caution.

“Be vigilant for rain with potential daily accumulation reaching the moderate category (20-50 mm/day), which could be accompanied by lightning/thunder and strong winds in Karimun and Lingga districts,” the forecaster added, emphasizing the need for preparedness against adverse conditions.

For maritime activities, the BMKG Maritim report indicates that wave heights in Kepri waters are generally in the moderate category. This condition is expected to support smooth sailing; however, seafarers are advised to remain alert to sudden changes in weather.

• Tanjungpinang/Bintan: Anticipate light rain consistently from morning through early Sunday. Temperatures are forecast to range from 24°C to 31°C.
• Tanjung Balai Karimun: Light rain is predicted all day, from morning into the early hours. The mercury will likely fall between 25°C and 32°C.
• Lingga: The morning will see thick clouds, transitioning to light rain in the afternoon. Thick clouds will return in the evening, with light rain reappearing in the early morning. Temperatures will be between 25°C and 32°C.
• Natuna: Expect thick clouds in the morning, followed by light rain in the afternoon. The evening will again be thickly cloudy, clearing to partly cloudy conditions in the early morning. Temperatures will range from 25°C to 33°C, with wind speeds between 1-8 km/h.
• Anambas Regency: Morning will bring thick clouds, afternoon light rain, then thick clouds in the evening, before becoming partly cloudy in the early morning. Temperatures are set to be between 25°C and 33°C, with wind speeds ranging from 1-15 km/h.
