The Tapanuli Tengah Police have taken a significant step in upholding law enforcement integrity by apprehending an active officer, identified by his rank Aipda and initials JEB, on serious suspicion of involvement in drug abuse and trafficking. This arrest underscores the police force’s commitment to internal cleansing and accountability.
The intricate details of the case were unveiled by Tapanuli Tengah Police Chief, AKBP Muhammad Alan Haikal. According to Chief Haikal, the investigation gained momentum following the apprehension of a primary suspect, RM (33), on Tuesday, April 28. During this initial arrest, law enforcement officers successfully confiscated two packages of crystal methamphetamine, weighing a total of 8.3 grams, laying the groundwork for further developments.
Building upon the intelligence gathered, investigators diligently pursued leads that strongly implicated Aipda JEB. This led to an intensive manhunt, culminating in the arrest of Aipda JEB on Tuesday, May 5. His apprehension marked a crucial turning point in the ongoing operation against illicit narcotics.
“During a search conducted by the Propam (Internal Affairs) team and Narcotics Unit’s operational personnel, officers discovered compelling evidence stored within the suspect officer’s vehicle: a substantial quantity of crystal methamphetamine weighing 204.92 grams,” Chief Alan Haikal stated on Saturday, May 16, highlighting the gravity of the findings.

Further scrutiny into Aipda JEB‘s alleged involvement quickly followed. Chief Alan confirmed that subsequent examinations of the officer yielded conclusive results: “The urine test results explicitly stated that Aipda JEB tested positive for consuming both amphetamines and methamphetamines,” Alan elaborated, solidifying the allegations of drug use.
Aipda JEB has since been officially transferred and detained at the Sibolga Class IIA Penitentiary, where he will undergo the full extent of legal proceedings. This move follows an initial period of interrogation in a specialized Propam cell at the Tapteng Police headquarters, addressing both ethical code violations and the criminal investigation.
Chief Alan emphasized the unwavering stance of the police force regarding such egregious misconduct. “Should he be legally and ethically proven to have violated the law and codes of conduct, the National Police will not hesitate to impose the sanction of Dishonorable Discharge (PTDH),” Alan affirmed. He concluded by reiterating the institution’s commitment: “This serves as our firm pledge to the community to uphold and safeguard the professionalism of the National Police.”
