The alleged assault occurred on Monday, April 13, around 11:00 PM WIB, at the Junior Non-Commissioned Officer (Bintara Remaja) dormitory or barracks, situated within a simple rental apartment complex (rusunawa).

“The deceased victim has been identified as Bripda NS, a member of the Riau Islands Regional Police Ditsamapta unit, while another victim, Bripda JB, is currently undergoing a medical examination,” Eddwi explained.

According to Eddwi, the incident began when the suspect summoned both victims, citing alleged misconduct for failing to participate in a community service activity (kurve).

“The two victims were called to a room in the barracks to be questioned about the kurve. It was during this time that the assault was allegedly carried out by their senior officer,” Eddwi stated.

Initial investigations reveal the assault was conducted using bare hands, without the aid of any weapons or tools.

“As for witnesses, we have temporarily taken statements from eight personnel. However, only one person has been named as a suspect so far,” he elaborated.

Eddwi further added that, as of this moment, no personal motive has been discovered between the suspect and the victims.

“Currently, the witnesses are being secured by Propam’s Paminal (Internal Security) Unit for further in-depth investigation and development. We will later explore whether there are any motives beyond the failure to perform the kurve,” Eddwi explained.

In addition to the criminal proceedings being handled by the General Criminal Investigation Directorate, the Riau Islands Regional Police will also pursue disciplinary action against those involved through Propam.

“We, from Propam, will process this case according to the code of ethics, and the criminal aspect has already been reported to the Ditreskrimum,” Eddwi confirmed.

The victim’s body was transported to Bhayangkara Hospital immediately after its discovery on Monday night, April 13, for an autopsy to determine the precise cause of death. However, no official statement from the hospital’s medical doctors has been released yet regarding the findings.

The Riau Islands Regional Police also affirmed their commitment to providing assistance to the victim’s family. “Financial assistance will certainly be provided, and we will manage the victim’s funeral arrangements,” Eddwi confirmed.

Bripda AS has yet to issue any comment regarding the case or his designation as a suspect.
