Sauri attributed the devastating incident to prolonged heavy rainfall that had persisted since the previous afternoon. This severe weather was exacerbated by a whirlwind, which ultimately caused a large banyan tree in the Lenteng Agung area to topple. The fallen tree tragically struck a motorcyclist who was passing by at the time.
As of 9:43 AM WIB on Sunday, March 8th, the arduous task of evacuating the enormous fallen tree was still underway. The considerable obstruction caused by the tree sections on the road led to significant traffic congestion for vehicles traveling from Depok towards Pancoran.
