Authorities in Pati Regency, Central Java, are making an urgent appeal to victims of alleged sexual abuse at Ponpes Ndolo Kusumo: come forward without fear. The police have pledged to safeguard the identities of all individuals who report these harrowing incidents, ensuring their privacy and security.
“Anyone who has been a victim, please report it. If your location is far, we will personally come to you,” stated Kompol Dika Hadiyan Widya Wiratama, Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit for the Pati Resort Police, in an interview with Kumparan on Tuesday (May 5).
Kompol Dika further emphasized the police’s unwavering commitment to assisting victims through any challenges they may face during the reporting process. The police are fully prepared to provide necessary facilities, ensuring victims can comfortably and safely provide their statements. “If there are any obstacles, please communicate them to us. We will facilitate the process so victims can give their testimonies. We will meticulously protect the victims’ identities,” he reiterated, underscoring the importance of victim welfare.

The urgency for more victims to come forward extends beyond just justice for individuals; it also profoundly impacts the judicial process. Kompol Dika highlighted that a greater number of victim reports could significantly sway judges’ deliberations and influence prosecutors’ demands for more stringent penalties against the perpetrators. “Ultimately, a higher number of victims reporting can be a crucial consideration for judges and prosecutors in determining appropriate sentencing. Therefore, we earnestly request cooperation to strengthen the case and convince the judges,” he added, emphasizing the collective power of victims’ testimonies.
Despite these proactive efforts and assurances from law enforcement, only eight individuals have officially reported as victims so far. However, according to legal counsel representing some of the victims, the actual number of santriwati (female students) who may have endured sexual abuse at Ponpes Ndolo Kusumo could be as high as 50, suggesting a much broader scope to the alleged crimes and a pressing need for further reports.
