A desperate mother from Sumbawa, Makkiyati, brought a plea for justice to the Komisi III of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) on Thursday, February 26. She sought intervention in the contentious case involving her son, Radiet Adiansyah, also known as Radit, who stands accused of the murder of his girlfriend, Ni Made Vaniradya Puspa Nitra, at Pantai Nipah, Mataram, on August 26, 2025. This case has ignited significant controversy, with Radit’s family vehemently rejecting the indictment.
The family’s profound disagreement stems from critical inconsistencies surrounding the discovery of the victim’s body. When Ni Made was found, Radit himself was discovered lying unconscious and separate from her remains, bearing severe facial injuries and bruises. Backed by prominent lawyer Hotman Paris, the family asserts the improbability of Radit, who was also brutally beaten, simultaneously being his girlfriend’s killer.
Adding another layer of complexity, Radit reportedly claimed that another perpetrator was involved in the incident, providing detailed descriptions of the individual to the police. He also asserted that he was a victim of robbery at the beach, suggesting a scenario far different from the prosecution’s allegations.
Radit’s Family Seeks Justice
During the emotional session at the Mataram District Court, Makkiyati, accompanied by Hotman Paris Hutapea, expressed profound objections to her son’s status as a defendant. Hotman Paris forcefully questioned the fundamental construction of the case that positions Radiet as the primary assailant. He highlighted that Radit was discovered approximately 100 meters from the victim’s body, badly bruised and unconscious, yet notably did not attempt to flee. Hotman passionately argued, “If he were indeed the killer of this woman, why was he still there, unconscious? His entire face was battered. And there was not a single witness to the incident.” This logical gap, according to Hotman, strongly suggests the presence of another perpetrator, as he rhetorically asked, “If he assaulted his girlfriend, why would he stay there? Why didn’t he run away?”
Tears streaming down her face, Makkiyati appealed directly to the members of parliament, emphasizing her son’s exemplary academic record from elementary school through university, where he studied on a scholarship. She further alleged that despite Radit providing characteristic details of the individuals who supposedly assaulted both of them, these crucial leads were not pursued seriously by law enforcement.
Komisi III Will Summon Mataram Police Chief-Chief Prosecutor
Responding to the gravity of the situation, the Komisi III DPR RI has announced its decision to summon key legal and law enforcement officials, including the Mataram Chief Prosecutor and the North Lombok Police Chief. The parliamentary body seeks comprehensive explanations regarding the Radiet Adiansyah case. This significant decision was formalized during a Public Hearing Meeting (RDPU) between Komisi III members and Radit’s legal counsel, Hotman Paris, on Thursday, February 26. As stated by Komisi III Chairman, Habiburokhman, “Komisi III DPR RI will summon the North Lombok Police Chief and the Mataram Chief Prosecutor concerning case Number 12/Pid.B/2026/PN Mtr, to provide the clearest possible explanation regarding the handled case.”
Prosecutor’s Indictment Content
In stark contrast to the family’s assertions, the prosecutor’s indictment, documented within the Mataram District Court’s Case Tracing Information System (SIPP), details the charges against Radiet for the death of Ni Made Vaniradya Puspa Nitra. The incident allegedly occurred at Pantai Nipah, located in Dusun Nipah, Malaka Village, Pemenang District, North Lombok Regency. The primary charge against Radiet is murder, under Article 458 paragraph (1) of the Indonesian Criminal Code (KUHP).
According to the prosecution, the tragic sequence began when Radiet and the victim left the Faculty of Agriculture at Mataram University around 3:00 PM Wita, traveling by motorcycle to the secluded Pantai Nipah. Upon arrival, after an initial conversation, an alleged sexual harassment incident reportedly escalated into resistance and a violent struggle. The prosecutor posits that Radiet then forcibly submerged the victim’s head into the sand, applying pressure to her neck until she succumbed to suffocation. Autopsy results from the Bhayangkara Police Hospital of NTB concluded that the cause of death was asphyxia due to suffocation in a sandy area. Furthermore, the victim’s body showed evidence of blunt force trauma and indications of sexual violence, with further DNA examination still pending.

The prosecution also alleges that the defendant attempted to conceal the crime by staging the scene to appear as a robbery. Cyber analysis, they claim, indicated that both the defendant’s and the victim’s mobile phones remained in the vicinity of the crime scene. As an alternative indictment, Radit is also charged under Article 466 paragraph (3) of the KUHP, pertaining to assault resulting in death. With the legal proceedings actively unfolding at the Mataram District Court, Radit’s family continues their impassioned plea for the Komisi III DPR RI to ensure an objective judicial process that thoroughly considers all presented facts, in their pursuit of justice.
Summary
A mother from Sumbawa, Makkiyati, with lawyer Hotman Paris, pleaded with Komisi III DPR RI for justice in the case of her son, Radiet Adiansyah (Radit), accused of murdering his girlfriend, Ni Made Vaniradya Puspa Nitra. Radit’s family vehemently rejects the indictment, citing inconsistencies: Radit was found unconscious and severely injured 100 meters from the victim, and he claimed another perpetrator was involved in a robbery. They argue that crucial leads provided by Radit regarding other individuals were not pursued by law enforcement.
Conversely, the prosecutor’s indictment charges Radit with murder, alleging he submerged the victim’s head in sand, leading to suffocation. Autopsy results confirmed death by asphyxia, with blunt force trauma and signs of sexual violence also present. The prosecution claims Radit staged a robbery to conceal the crime. Responding to the gravity of the situation, Komisi III DPR RI has announced it will summon the Mataram Chief Prosecutor and North Lombok Police Chief for comprehensive explanations regarding the case.
