Police have successfully solved the murder case of a 66-year-old South Korean national, identified as BS, who was discovered dead in a pool of blood at his rented home in Kampung Buaran, Lambang Sari Village, Bekasi, on May 27. Following an intensive investigation, authorities have apprehended two suspects connected to the crime.
Among those arrested is the victim’s ex-wife, who was married to BS in 2016 before their divorce in 2023. “We have successfully secured two suspects, identified by their initials SJ and HW. Our investigation confirms that SJ is the victim’s former wife,” stated Bekasi Metro Police Chief, Senior Commissioner Sumarni, during a press conference at the police headquarters on Tuesday (June 2).
SJ, an Indonesian citizen, was taken into custody at her home in Lambang Sari village—located just a short distance from the victim’s residence—on May 29 at 6:00 PM. Meanwhile, the second suspect, HW, was apprehended at his workplace, a hardware store in the Jatiasih district of Bekasi, at 2:20 PM that same day. Both suspects are being charged under Articles 459 and 458 of the Criminal Code (KUHP), which carry a potential sentence of life imprisonment or up to 20 years behind bars.
The Roles of the Suspects

Investigators identified SJ as the mastermind behind the murder. She reportedly recruited HW, an acquaintance she met at a local gym, to carry out the attack. “HW served as the executor of the murder. SJ instructed him to kill the victim, leveraging their acquaintance developed through shared workouts at the gym,” Commissioner Sumarni explained.
To ensure the completion of the crime, SJ paid HW a total of Rp 139 million, disbursed in multiple installments. The plot was far from impulsive; it had been in the works for roughly half a year. “The murder was meticulously planned since December 2025. The suspects met several times to finalize the details of their plan,” Sumarni added.
Motive: Financial Disputes and Resentment

The motive behind the brutal killing appears to be rooted in deep-seated resentment. SJ reportedly harbored significant grievances against the victim, specifically citing a lack of financial support for their children and disputes over the division of property following their divorce.
“SJ’s motives were driven by emotional distress, revenge, and bitterness toward the victim, whom she accused of past physical abuse. She also harbored a strong desire to seize the victim’s assets,” stated Sumarni. She further clarified that the crime was triggered by the victim’s alleged failure to provide child support and unresolved conflicts regarding property settlements.
