The Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) has extended comprehensive protection to Andrie Yunus, the Deputy Coordinator of KontraS, and his family. This crucial decision comes in the wake of a severe acid attack perpetrated against Andrie.
The resolution to grant this protection was formally adopted through a session of the LPSK Leadership Council, convened on Monday, March 16. Announcing the decision on Tuesday, March 17, LPSK Chairman Achmadi stated, “We have decided to provide protection to AY as a victim, encompassing physical protection through close security, facilitated medical assistance, and the fulfillment of procedural rights throughout the ongoing legal process.”
Notably, the protective measures from LPSK are not limited solely to Andrie Yunus and his immediate family. The agency has also committed to safeguarding witnesses integral to the investigation of the acid attack case, underscoring the broad scope of their intervention. Achmadi further elaborated, “Under this decision, LPSK also provides aid and/or protection to the victim’s family, as well as protection to related witnesses.”
For Andrie Yunus himself, the protection framework is multifaceted. It includes robust physical protection in the form of dedicated close security details, ensuring his safety. Additionally, he will receive the full fulfillment of his procedural rights within the judicial process, coupled with essential medical assistance, specifically regular medical care, to support his recovery and well-being.

Witnesses, crucial for a transparent legal outcome, are afforded protection focused on the fulfillment of their procedural rights, guaranteeing they can provide testimony securely and without intimidation throughout the legal proceedings. Concurrently, Andrie’s family members are granted protection that involves the fulfillment of procedural rights, temporary living assistance, and reimbursement for expenses related to a temporary residence or a designated safe house.
This comprehensive protection program is initially set for a duration of six months, commencing from the signing of the statement of consent and/or protection agreement. Importantly, the program retains flexibility, allowing for extensions or adjustments as necessitated by evolving needs and the progression of the case’s handling.
LPSK Chairman Achmadi underscored the gravity of the situation, characterizing the acid attack as a profoundly serious incident. He emphasized the imperative for the case to be swiftly and transparently investigated and processed in strict accordance with prevailing legal provisions.
It is important to note that LPSK had previously provided emergency protection to Andrie Yunus from March 13 to March 16, 2026. This initial emergency service package included vital medical assistance and physical protection, specifically close security, provided at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM).
