Agrapinus Rumatora, widely known as Nus Kei and the influential Chairman of the Golkar Party’s Southeast Maluku DPD, tragically lost his life on Sunday, April 19, after being brutally stabbed by an unidentified assailant. The shocking incident occurred moments after he arrived at Karel Sadsuitubun Airport in Southeast Maluku.

According to Kombes Pol Rositah Umasugi, Head of Public Relations for the Maluku Regional Police, the fatal attack took place around 11:25 AM Eastern Indonesia Time (WIT) at the airport’s exit gate in Kei Kecil District. Nus Kei, who had just disembarked from a flight from Jakarta, was suddenly targeted. “The victim was unexpectedly stabbed with a knife by an unknown individual, who then immediately fled the scene,” Rositah stated. Family members rushed Nus Kei to RS Karel Sadsuitubun by approximately 12:00 PM WIT, but the severity of his injuries proved insurmountable, and he unfortunately succumbed.

Two Suspects Apprehended
Law enforcement authorities launched a swift and decisive response. Within an impressive span of less than two hours, police successfully apprehended two alleged perpetrators, identified by their initials HR (28) and FU (36). Both suspects are currently undergoing intensive interrogation at the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Southeast Maluku Resort Police. While arrests have been made, the police spokesperson confirmed that “the motive behind this grave incident remains under active investigation.”

The Maluku Regional Police has since issued a public appeal for calm, urging the community not to be provoked by rumors or speculation. They reassured the public that the case would be handled with the utmost professionalism and transparency, ensuring a thorough investigation into the stabbing death of the Golkar leader.

The DPD Golkar Maluku chapter quickly responded to the tragic stabbing of Nus Kei, expressing profound concern over the incident. They highlighted that this was a serious event, not only impacting the victim and his family but also carrying the potential to destabilize social order and overall conduciveness in the region, particularly within the Southeast Maluku Regency.

Umar Lessy, Chairman of DPD Golkar Maluku, passionately called upon the entire community to “collectively uphold peace and remain impervious to divisive issues that could fracture the brotherhood in the ‘Land of Kings’ (Bumi Raja-Raja).” He emphasized the party’s commitment to maintaining harmony amidst the grief and shock.

In light of this tragic event, the DPD Golkar Maluku outlined six crucial points articulating their official stance:

1. Strong Condemnation of Violence: The party vehemently condemns any act of violence perpetrated against the Chairman of the Golkar Party DPD for Southeast Maluku. They declared this act of stabbing to be unlawful and utterly intolerable within the framework of national life and governance.

Call for Restraint Among Cadres: All Golkar Party cadres across Maluku, especially in Southeast Maluku Regency, are urged to exercise utmost restraint, resist provocation, and actively contribute to maintaining a safe and conducive environment. The party stressed that solidarity must be demonstrated through mature conduct, not actions that exacerbate the situation.
3. Demand for Thorough Police Investigation: Golkar Maluku explicitly calls upon law enforcement authorities to immediately and thoroughly investigate the incident, apprehend all perpetrators, and transparently and professionally disclose the motive behind this heinous crime.
4. Community Engagement for Security: The party encourages all stakeholders, including community leaders, religious figures, and youth representatives, to collaborate in preserving security and public order, while cautioning against the dissemination of unverified information.
5. Internal Solidarity and Trust in Law Enforcement: All Golkar Party structures throughout Maluku are instructed to maintain unwavering solidarity, strengthen internal communication, and fully entrust the handling of this sensitive case to the appropriate law enforcement agencies.
