Kendaraan arus balik capai 74 ribu, Tol Cipali berlakukan buka-tutup rest area

The surge in Lebaran 2026 return traffic on the Cikopo-Palimanan (Cipali) Toll Road began to show a significant upward trend on H+2 Lebaran, Tuesday (March 24th). Tens of thousands of vehicles have started to crowd the lanes heading towards Jakarta, as recorded by Astra Tol Cipali, from early morning into the afternoon.

Ardam Rafif Trisilo, Head of Sustainability Management & Corporate Communications Dept. at Astra Tol Cipali, confirmed that the traffic volume data continues to climb. “Based on data from 00:00 to 17:00 WIB on this H+2 Lebaran, the one-way traffic management scheme heading towards Jakarta on the Cipali Toll Road has continuously increased. Approximately 74,000 vehicles have traversed the former Cikopo Toll Gate towards Jakarta,” Ardam stated in an official release.

This figure, according to Ardam, has already reached about 92% of the vehicle volume observed during the same period on the previous day. Despite the exceptionally high volume of vehicles, Ardam emphasized that the one-way traffic engineering scheme has proven effective in managing the flow.

“Even as the number of vehicles continues to rise, the implementation of the one-way traffic management strategy has successfully kept the traffic moving smoothly and under control,” he added, highlighting its success in maintaining fluidity.

However, one crucial point of concern remains the potential congestion at rest areas. Ardam explained that Astra Tol Cipali, in collaboration with the police, has prepared situational measures to prevent vehicle build-up from spilling onto the main toll lanes. To ensure the comfort and safety of road users utilizing these facilities, a situational opening-and-closing system has been implemented across all rest areas on the Cipali Toll Road.

This dynamic policy is specifically enforced at Rest Areas KM 86, 102, 130, and 166 along the one-way lane, as well as KM 164, 130, 101, and 77 on the normal lane. Ardam further urged drivers not to stop on the shoulder of the road if a rest area is full. “If a rest area is observed to be at full capacity, road users are advised not to stop on the shoulder or force themselves to queue on the main lane before entering the rest area, as this can trigger significant traffic slowdowns,” he cautioned.

As a practical alternative for weary travelers who find rest areas full, management suggests exiting at the nearest toll gate. Ardam assured drivers that this will not financially disadvantage them. “We guarantee that the total accumulated toll fare remains the same, even if road users exit and re-enter toll gates to rest. Fares are calculated strictly based on the kilometers traveled,” he affirmed.

Concluding his remarks, Ardam strongly urged all road users to prioritize road safety at all times, maintain safe distances between vehicles, and strictly obey the directions of officers on the ground. To ensure collective safety, he emphasized the importance of not changing lanes or making U-turns while the one-way scheme is in effect on the Cipali Toll Road.

Summary

The Lebaran 2026 return traffic on the Cipali Toll Road saw a significant increase on H+2, March 24th, with approximately 74,000 vehicles recorded heading towards Jakarta by 17:00 WIB. This volume reached about 92% of the previous day’s figures for the same period. Astra Tol Cipali confirmed that the one-way traffic management scheme effectively maintained smooth and controlled traffic flow despite the surge.

To manage potential congestion, a situational opening-and-closing system was implemented at all rest areas along the Cipali Toll Road. Drivers are advised not to stop on the shoulder or queue on the main lane if rest areas are full, but instead to exit at the nearest toll gate, with toll fares remaining calculated by distance. Road users are also urged to prioritize safety, maintain safe distances, and obey officer directions, particularly by avoiding lane changes or U-turns during the one-way scheme.
