The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu) is actively continuing its evacuation efforts for Indonesian citizens (WNI) from Iran, navigating the ongoing regional conflict. This critical second phase will see a total of 34 WNI repatriated to Indonesia, arriving in two distinct waves.
According to Heni Hamidah, the Acting Director for the Protection of Indonesian Citizens at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the first wave of this second phase evacuation, comprising 20 individuals, is expected to arrive in Indonesia this afternoon. The remaining 14 citizens are scheduled to land tomorrow.
“The first wave, consisting of 20 people, is set to arrive today at 6:00 PM Western Indonesian Time (WIB), and the subsequent 14 individuals will reach Jakarta tomorrow at the same scheduled time,” Heni confirmed during a press briefing held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Office in Central Jakarta on Friday, March 13, 2026.
These ongoing efforts follow the successful completion of the initial evacuation phase, which saw 32 Indonesian citizens repatriated. Those individuals safely arrived in Indonesia on March 10 and 11, 2026, marking a significant milestone in the WNI protection initiative.

She further elaborated that the Indonesian government is maintaining constant vigilance, continuously monitoring the security situation in Iran. This crucial oversight is essential for determining the appropriate next steps for any remaining Indonesian citizens still within the country’s borders.
“Regarding future evacuation plans, the Government of Indonesia (PemRI), working through the Indonesian Embassy in Tehran (KBRI Teheran), will undoubtedly persist in its ongoing security assessments in Iran, alongside closely observing the evolving situation of Indonesian citizens who remain there,” Heni affirmed.
She stressed that the execution of subsequent evacuation operations will be meticulously tailored to the prevailing on-the-ground conditions and the readiness of the WNI themselves.
“Consistent with the Foreign Minister’s statement on a phased evacuation strategy, the necessity for subsequent evacuations will be adapted to the latest field conditions, taking into account both the preparedness and willingness of the Indonesian citizens still present in the region,” she added.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also reassured that intensive communication channels with Indonesian citizens in Iran are being continuously maintained, ensuring their well-being and providing essential updates.
Heni concluded by emphasizing, “The Indonesian Embassy will continue its intensive engagement with Indonesian citizens who remain in Iran, actively seeking their input on their specific situations in their respective locations.”
