The Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polda Metro Jaya) have unveiled the timeline of an alleged assault case that tragically led to the death of a 30-year-old Brunei Darussalam national, identified by his initials MHF, in the bustling Blok M area of Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta. Authorities stated that the incident escalated from a verbal argument before the victim was struck with a glass bottle, ultimately proving fatal.
According to Kombes Pol Budi Hermanto, Head of Public Relations for Polda Metro Jaya, the alleged assault occurred on Wednesday, May 6th, around 3:30 AM Western Indonesian Time (WIB), in front of Restu Sport, located within the Blok M Hub in Melawai, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta. “It is confirmed that an alleged criminal act of assault resulting in the death of a victim took place in the Blok M area, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta,” Budi informed reporters on Tuesday, May 26th, underscoring the gravity of the situation.
Budi elaborated on the events leading up to the incident, noting that the victim was present at the location with a witness. Shortly thereafter, several individuals arrived, conversing with the victim for some time. Around 3:28 AM WIB, the alleged perpetrator, MIA (33), a Brunei national and known social media personality (selebgram), arrived with an associate in a car. Upon exiting the vehicle, the suspect was reportedly carrying a black paper bag, believed to contain a glass bottle, as they approached the victim, sparking an argument at the entrance of Blok M Hub.
The heated debate then shifted to the area in front of Restu Sport. Moments later, MIA allegedly struck the victim once on the head with the paper bag, which contained the glass bottle, causing MHF to fall. This single, forceful blow marked a critical turning point in the fatal altercation.
Following the assault, the victim was initially taken to nearby accommodation before being rushed to RSPP for urgent medical attention. Despite efforts to save him, MHF‘s condition continued to deteriorate, and he tragically passed away on May 16, 2026. This unfortunate outcome spurred a comprehensive investigation by law enforcement.
A joint team comprising the Subdirectorate Resmob of Ditreskrimum Polda Metro Jaya, Satreskrim Polres Metro Jakarta Selatan, and Polsek Metro Kebayoran Baru launched an in-depth investigation. Their efforts culminated in the swift apprehension of the primary suspect, MIA, who was arrested in the early hours of Monday, May 25th, in the Kebayoran Lama area of South Jakarta.
