The late Michael Bambang Hartono, a prominent businessman and owner of the Djarum Group, arrived at the Grand Heaven Pluit funeral home in North Jakarta on Friday, March 20, 2026, at 11:30 AM Western Indonesian Time (WIB).
According to kumparan‘s observations at the location, mourners had begun arriving and waiting several hours before the coffin’s arrival. Numerous floral wreaths were already arranged in front of the bereavement hall, a testament to his impact.
Upon reaching the funeral home, the body was immediately taken to the mortuary, a dedicated facility for cleansing and preparing the deceased, where it would be bathed and embalmed.
Following the preparation, the body will be moved to the main wake room, specifically room 107 on the first floor, for public viewing.
The late Michael Bambang Hartono’s remains are scheduled to lie in repose at Grand Heaven from March 20 to 22, 2026, across rooms 103-105 and 107-108. Subsequently, the body will be transported to Kudus for further viewing at GOR Jati from March 22 to 25, 2026, allowing more people to pay their last respects.
A series of memorial masses and tribute ceremonies have been planned. A coffin-closing mass will take place on March 21, 2026, at 7:00 PM WIB at Grand Heaven, Jakarta. A special evening mass is scheduled for March 24, 2026, at 6:00 PM WIB at GOR Jati, Kudus.
Furthermore, a send-off mass is slated for March 25, 2026, at 8:00 AM WIB, followed by the departure of the body from GOR Jati Kudus at 9:00 AM WIB, en route to the burial site in Godo, Rembang. The burial ceremony itself will commence at 10:40 AM WIB, with the interment process beginning at 11:00 AM WIB.
As previously reported, Michael Bambang Hartono passed away on Thursday afternoon, March 19, 2026, at 1:15 PM Singapore time. This sad news was confirmed by Budi Darmawan, Corporate Communication Senior Manager of the Djarum Group.
“Indeed, Mr. Michael Bambang Hartono passed away at 1:15 PM Singapore time,” Budi told kumparan on Thursday, March 19.
As of now, the body remains in the mortuary for essential preparation processes before being transferred to the Grand Heaven wake room, where it will lie in repose for family, relatives, and mourners to pay their final respects.
