The Metro Jaya Regional Police (Polda Metro Jaya) has vehemently denied accusations that investigators from the Cilandak Police Station deliberately altered an Official Investigation Minutes (BAP) from an assault case into a drug case. This rebuttal comes on the back of thorough internal examinations conducted by the Professionalism and Security Division (Propam) and a meticulous review of CCTV footage from the investigator’s room, aiming to clarify the recent controversy.
According to Kombes Pol Budi Hermanto, Chief of Public Relations for Polda Metro Jaya, the incident depicted in a viral video occurred during the examination of Irwan Pawea (IP) on Monday, January 26. IP was being questioned in connection with an alleged assault carried out by his wife, DA, against NA, which reportedly took place on December 11, 2025. This timeline underscores the specifics of the ongoing investigation.
“The CCTV footage clearly shows investigator Aipda PD informing IP, also known as R, that the results of this interrogation report would be printed on recycled paper, and this was agreed upon by IP,” Budi explained on Tuesday, February 3. This detail is crucial in understanding the context surrounding the disputed documents and the transparency of the process.
Budi elaborated that the recycled paper utilized for printing the draft BAP was, in fact, leftover documentation from an older drug case previously handled by the investigators. He stressed that these discarded documents bore absolutely no relation to the ongoing assault investigation involving IP. This clarification serves to disconnect the seemingly disparate elements found on the physical paper from the actual case under scrutiny.
“Therefore, the contents on these recycled paper sheets are remnants from past cases used by the investigators. We want to jointly clarify that there was no fabrication concerning IP. His wife was reported as a potential suspect in an assault case, and the narcotics case mentioned on the BAP has no connection whatsoever,” Budi asserted. He further acknowledged, “This pertains to a past case; only the paper itself was previously printed. It was an oversight by the investigator that the used paper was not destroyed or disposed of as it should have been.”
While Budi conceded that the use of recycled paper constituted an error on the investigator’s part, he indicated that the action was taken for reasons of efficiency. He noted that the BAP content was still in its draft phase and subject to further correction by the examined party. “Indeed, in this sense, it could serve as a scratchpad for corrections; it would be rewritten later. While the investigator’s action was a mistake, it was done for efficiency, supported by our budget for investigation and inquiry processes,” he revealed.
Furthermore, Budi affirmed that the investigation into the alleged assault case remains active and is progressing. The case has now been officially transferred from the Cilandak Police Station to the South Jakarta Metro Police. Authorities have also received the victim’s medical report, detailing the injuries sustained, ensuring all evidence is duly considered.
“This signifies that the process continues under investigation and is being handled by the South Jakarta Metro Police. It has been taken over from the Cilandak Police Station and is now under the jurisdiction of the South Jakarta Metro Police,” he clarified, underscoring the shift in investigative authority.
The controversy surrounding the alleged BAP manipulation initially gained traction following the widespread circulation of a video on social media. The footage captured a heated debate concerning the contents of examination documents at a police office. In the video, a witness involved in an assault case vehemently questioned the inclusion of an alleged drug scale as evidence within the documents slated for signing.
The video was shared by a Facebook account, which criticized the discrepancy, asserting that the document’s contents did not align with the requested clarification for the assault case. “The document my sibling was asked to sign did not match the results of the assault clarification. The appendix included a drug scale, even though it had no connection to the statement requested by the investigator. It is truly saddening how our law enforcement operates,” the account’s post read, highlighting the public’s concern.
In response to the viral video, Bripka Nuryono, Head of Public Relations for the Cilandak Police Station, confirmed that the investigator featured in the video had undergone examination by Propam. “The investigator seen in the video has been examined by Propam of Polda Metro Jaya and Propam of the South Jakarta Metro Police,” Nuryono stated when contacted on Monday, February 2, indicating that internal procedures were promptly activated to address the matter.
Summary
The Metro Jaya Regional Police (Polda Metro Jaya) has vehemently denied accusations that investigators from the Cilandak Police Station deliberately altered an Official Investigation Minutes (BAP) from an assault case into a drug case. Following thorough internal examinations and a review of CCTV footage, authorities clarified that a draft BAP for an assault case involving Irwan Pawea (IP) was printed on recycled paper that contained remnants from an unrelated older drug case, causing the confusion. Investigator Aipda PD had informed IP about the use of recycled paper.
Polda Metro Jaya conceded that using recycled paper was an investigator’s error for efficiency, but maintained there was no fabrication of facts concerning IP. The ongoing assault case, involving IP’s wife, remains active and has since been transferred from the Cilandak Police Station to the South Jakarta Metro Police. The investigator featured in the viral video that sparked the controversy has also undergone examination by Propam.
