These critical toll gates include Cikampek Utama, which serves traffic from the Trans Jawa toll road; Kalihurip Utama, managing vehicles from the Bandung direction; Cikupa, handling traffic from Merak in the west; and Ciawi, the gateway for those traveling from the Puncak region.

Rivan A. Purwantono, President Director of Jasa Marga, highlighted that this influx of 2.77 million vehicles already constitutes 81.72% of the company’s total projected return flow. “The 2.77 million vehicles returning to the Jabotabek area represent 81.72% of the total projected 3.39 million vehicles expected to return to the Jabotabek area between March 11 and March 31, 2026,” Rivan stated in an official release on Sunday, March 29, 2026.

Jasa Marga’s data further reveals that the majority of vehicles heading back to Jakarta and its surrounding areas originated from the eastern routes, encompassing both the Trans Jawa toll road and Bandung. The detailed distribution of this return traffic is as follows:

  • From the East (Trans Jawa & Bandung): A commanding 1,306,467 vehicles, accounting for 47.1% of the total. Specifically, 724,401 vehicles passed through GT Cikampek Utama, marking a notable 45.4% increase from normal traffic levels. Meanwhile, 582,066 vehicles used GT Kalihurip Utama, showing a 2.9% rise compared to normal.
  • From the West (Merak): 815,036 vehicles, or 29.4% of the total, entered via GT Cikupa. Interestingly, this volume was 1.4% lower than normal traffic for this route.
  • From the South (Puncak): 652,264 vehicles, comprising 23.5% of the total, utilized GT Ciawi, an increase of 3.1% from normal conditions.

Rivan also noted that the peak of the return traffic flow was observed on Tuesday, March 24, 2026. Even after reviewing daily traffic data up to Saturday, March 27, Jasa Marga confirmed that Tuesday, March 24, remained the busiest day for vehicles returning to Jabotabek, with 256,000 vehicles recorded. This figure represents a substantial 99.0% surge compared to normal daily traffic. A significant 62.1% of these homebound travelers originated from the East, specifically the Trans Jawa and Bandung corridors.

“Based on this data, Jasa Marga continues to strengthen services on several main toll road sections by optimizing toll gate operations, preparing road service fleets, implementing situational traffic management, and ensuring the readiness of field officers 24 hours a day,” Rivan explained, outlining the comprehensive measures being taken.
