Hashim Djojohadikusumo, who leads the Housing Task Force, recently made a significant revelation: he was once presented with an offer to exploit President Prabowo Subianto’s three million homes for the people program for substantial personal financial gain. He highlighted the immense potential for profit, estimating it could reach five times the initial investment.
“Someone told me, ‘Pak Hasyim, we can make a profit, you know, in strategic locations, Pak Hasyim can ask for a quota of 1,000 apartments, 500 apartments; if we sell them, we can get a five-fold profit.’ Someone said that,” Hashim recounted during the official launch of the Three Million Homes Program on Jalan Manggarai Utara VII, South Jakarta, on Monday, March 16.
Despite the tempting prospect, Hashim emphatically stated that such practices are utterly unacceptable, unequivocally clarifying that the program is explicitly designed to benefit the general public. “I have testified, you know, that practice must not happen, it must not happen; this is for our people,” Hashim stressed, underscoring his unwavering commitment to the program’s integrity and its intended social purpose.

He implored that meticulous attention be dedicated to building standards, thereby safeguarding public trust and preventing disappointment. He also mentioned having heard numerous cases from Minister of Housing and Residential Areas, Pak Ara Sirait, where social housing projects had frequently been compromised or misused. “If possible, regarding quality, let’s not disappoint our people,” he urged passionately.
Hashim further solidified his commitment to ethical governance, explicitly stating that neither he nor his family would personally benefit from the project. He also clarified that they maintain no affiliations with any of the contractors engaged in this crucial national initiative. “I have agreed, you know, that personally, my family and I will not participate in taking advantage of this program. All these contractors, we have no connection,” Hashim reiterated, emphasizing transparency and impartiality.
Shifting focus to concrete developments unveiled at the same event, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) announced its ambitious plan to construct a new residential complex adjacent to Manggarai Station. This development, comprising eight residential towers, underscores KAI’s tangible support for President Prabowo Subianto’s landmark three million homes program, aiming to provide accessible housing solutions.
Bobby Rasyidin, President Director of PT KAI, outlined that the construction would proceed across two distinct blocks, Block G and Block F. He confirmed that construction is slated to commence imminently, targeting an early 2027 key handover to future residents. “Each of these towers will span 12 floors, totaling 8 towers, and will collectively provide 2,200 residential units. Work on this project will begin very soon,” Bobby explained, highlighting the significant scale and urgency of this vital urban development project.
