Teknowarta – Malaysian rising star Hakim Danish Ramli has etched a historic milestone into his burgeoning career, securing his maiden Moto3 podium finish. Danish clinched a commendable third place at the Italian Grand Prix, held at the iconic Mugello Circuit on Sunday, May 31.

Danish had already showcased his impressive form during the qualifying session, initially posting the second-fastest time. He was subsequently promoted to pole position after the fastest qualifier, David Almansa of Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP, was unable to compete due to tonsillitis, setting the stage for an extraordinary race for the young rider.

Despite the fiercely contested race, victory ultimately went to Brian Uriarte, a long-standing rival of Danish from their days in the Red Bull Rookies Cup. Uriarte crossed the finish line with a winning time of 33 minutes, 7.801 seconds, demonstrating his prowess on the track.

Uriarte’s Red Bull KTM Ajo teammate, Alvaro Carpe, secured second place, finishing just +0.418 seconds behind, ensuring a remarkable one-two finish for their team at Mugello. Meanwhile, Danish valiantly held on to third, crossing the line a mere +0.456 seconds adrift of the winner. His podium spot was hard-earned, as he battled intensely until the very last lap to fend off Adrian Fernandez (Leopard Racing), who finished a scant +0.482 seconds behind in fourth, highlighting the incredibly tight competition.

This achievement marks a significant moment in Malaysian motorsports, as it’s the first time since 2016 that a Malaysian rider has stepped onto the Moto3 podium. The last such feat was accomplished by Khairul Idham Pawi when he triumphed at the German Grand Prix, making Danish’s accomplishment a powerful return to form for Malaysian talent.

Prior to his spectacular performance in Italy, Danish’s best result this season was a seventh-place finish at the Catalunya series earlier in May. As a rookie rider competing with the Aeon Credit-MT Helmets-MSI team, his consistent improvement and burgeoning pace throughout the season have been truly significant and noteworthy.

Following the race, the jubilant 18-year-old rider expressed his immense satisfaction with the outcome. “It was a very difficult race with a lot of battles. I was able to manage it well, especially in the last lap. I gave it everything,” Danish was quoted saying by New Straits Times, reflecting on his arduous effort.

He added, “Of course, I am very happy to finish on the podium, especially since I am still a rookie in Moto3. I have been working hard in every race and finally achieved it. It’s like a dream come true,” conveying his pride and joy at realizing a significant career ambition so early in his journey.

This season, Danish has consistently demonstrated his potential, accumulating four top-10 finishes so far. The talented young racer currently sits 11th in the provisional Moto3 standings with 43 points. At the pinnacle of the championship, Maximo Quiles from CFMoto Valresa Aspar Team maintains a commanding lead with 145 points.

Alvaro Carpe occupies the second position with 93 points, closely followed by Adrian Fernandez in third with 89 points. Meanwhile, Indonesian rider Veda Ega Pratama holds fifth place with 66 points. The Moto3 series is set to continue its thrilling season next week with the Hungarian Grand Prix, which will take place at the Balaton Park Circuit.
