A former domestic helper, Herawati, has bravely come forward to detail the physical abuse she allegedly suffered at the hands of her employer, Erin. Following a particularly disturbing incident where she was struck by Erin, Herawati sought solace and reported the assault to Erin’s second child, Kenzy Taulany.
Recalling the harrowing experience, Herawati stated, “I pleaded for help because I was being hit, crying. I didn’t explicitly ask for assistance, but merely recounted, ‘Mas, I was hit.’ I simply reported the incident that way.” This statement was made by Herawati during an interview in Tebet, South Jakarta, on Saturday (May 9).
At the time, Kenzy found himself in a difficult position, unable to intervene directly in the escalating conflict. However, Herawati recounted that Kenzy pledged to inform his father, prominent public figure Andre Taulany, about the ordeal.
Herawati clarified that she had not instructed Kenzy to speak with his father. “It was entirely Kenzy’s own initiative,” she affirmed, highlighting the independent decision made by Erin’s son.
She further speculated on Kenzy’s motivation, suggesting, “Perhaps he felt sympathy for my plight and was hesitant to confront his own mother. It’s likely he chose to confide in his father instead, given the circumstances.”
Andre Taulany’s Alleged Orchestration Denied
Meanwhile, Herawati’s legal team vehemently refuted claims suggesting external parties were orchestrating the entire matter. Specifically, allegations implicating Andre Taulany as the ‘mastermind’ behind the ongoing dispute were strongly dismissed by Herawati’s legal counsel, Ernest Hasibuan.
Ernest unequivocally stated, “This has absolutely no connection with Mr. Andre. There is no link whatsoever. We are not, and have not, made any mention or insinuation regarding Mr. Andre.” This strong denial aims to dispel rumors of Andre Taulany’s involvement in the case.
During the interview, Ernest underscored that their primary focus remains solely on the reported incident of domestic helper abuse. He asserted that their only objective is to secure justice for his client, Herawati.
Ernest concluded, “Our process is centered on seeking justice for a domestic helper where there are clear allegations of abuse perpetrated by her employer. Our aim is simply to rectify this injustice and ensure accountability.”
