The peaceful community of Bambu Apus, Cipayung, East Jakarta, was shattered on Saturday, March 20, in the early hours of the morning, when Dwintha Anggary, the granddaughter of legendary Betawi artist Mpok Nori, was discovered lifeless in her rented home. Authorities swiftly acted, and the perpetrator has since been apprehended, bringing a crucial development to this tragic case.
The investigation quickly uncovered the identity of the individual responsible for Dwintha’s untimely death. Police have confirmed the arrest of Fuad, who was apprehended in Cikupa, Tangerang, Banten. Speaking on the successful operation, Iptu Edy Handoko, Head of the Cipayung Reskrim Unit, stated, “Alhamdulillah, the perpetrator has been arrested, handled by the Subdit Resmob Polda Metro Jaya.” Handoko further revealed a significant detail about the suspect’s relationship with the victim: Fuad was Dwintha’s former unregistered husband.
Adding another layer to the complex case, Polda Metro Jaya disclosed that Fuad is a foreign national from Iraq. Kombes Pol Budi Hermanto, Head of Public Relations for Polda Metro Jaya, reiterated this crucial identification, confirming Fuad’s status as an Iraqi citizen and the victim’s estranged former spouse.
Key insights into Fuad’s activities leading up to the incident were provided by AKBP Ressa Marabessy, Head of the Subdit Resmob Polda Metro Jaya. Marabessy detailed that Fuad was spotted several times around the vicinity of Dwintha’s home on Friday, March 20, 2026. A witness recalled seeing Fuad, dressed in a green t-shirt and shorts, walking between Gang Daman 2 and Daman 1, and even exchanged greetings with him. Another witness, Siti, corroborated Fuad’s presence, noting he was seen in the same attire at the Al Ikhlas Mosque in Bambu Apus, Cipayung, East Jakarta, for Fajr prayers on that same Friday. When police discovered Dwintha, dried blood was visible on the floor and mattress. Further investigation revealed a critical detail: only two individuals possessed keys to the rented house – Dwintha Anggary herself and Fuad.
The likely motive behind the fatal act quickly emerged, pointing towards a strained romantic relationship. Kombes Alfian Nurrizal, Chief of Metro Jakarta Timur Police, indicated that the murder was likely fueled by emotional turmoil. He explained, “The victim wished to terminate her relationship with the suspect, but the suspect was unwilling to accept it.” This revelation suggests a tragic culmination of a deeply troubled personal dynamic.
Dwintha’s sister, Dian, shed further light on Fuad’s character, describing him as intensely jealous and possessive. “He [the perpetrator] was quite jealous. So, the deceased wasn’t allowed to communicate with anyone else; it was as if she was constantly restrained,” Dian recounted. This controlling behavior reportedly escalated as Dwintha became more engaged in her work life, expanding her social circle to include male colleagues. Dian also disclosed that even after their relationship had formally ended, Fuad persistently sought reconciliation, frequently urging Dwintha to reunite with him.
Crucial evidence obtained from CCTV footage at the crime scene paints a harrowing picture of the events leading to Dwintha’s death. According to Dian, the recordings show Fuad circling the area on his motorcycle as early as 8 PM the night before the incident, seemingly monitoring the surroundings for several hours. At approximately 00:03 WIB (12:03 AM), the suspect was captured on camera returning to Dwintha’s home, noticeably carrying a long object resembling a carpet. Mere minutes later, around 00:09 WIB (12:09 AM), Fuad was seen fleeing from the rented house in a hurried sprint, appearing in different clothing and without a backward glance. The family firmly believes this sequence of events captured by the CCTV cameras directly led to Dwintha’s tragic demise and fervently hopes for the perpetrator to receive the maximum possible penalty.
