The KPK officially named five suspects in an alleged bribery case linked to a land dispute at the Depok District Court. The bribe was reportedly offered to expedite the execution of a disputed land parcel.

The five individuals now facing charges are:

  • I Wayan Eka Mariarta (EKA), Head of the Depok District Court;

  • Bambang Setyawan (BBG), Deputy Head of the Depok District Court;

  • Yohansyah Maruanaya (YOH), a court bailiff at the Depok District Court;

  • Trisnadi Yulrisman (TRI), President Director of PT Karabha Digdaya (KD); and

  • Berliana Tri Kusuma (BER), Head Corporate Legal of PT KD.

Acting Deputy for Enforcement and Execution at the KPK, Asep Guntur Rahayu, elaborated that the case originated in 2023 when the Depok District Court ruled in favor of PT Karabha Digdaya (KD) in a land dispute.

PT KD was embroiled in a dispute with local residents over a 6,500-square-meter plot of land located in Tapos District, Depok.

The Depok District Court’s decision, which favored PT KD, had been upheld through appeal and cassation levels.

Based on these rulings, PT KD submitted an application to the Depok District Court in January 2025, requesting the immediate eviction and execution of the land.

However, a month passed without the execution taking place, despite multiple resubmissions of the execution request. Adding urgency, there were plans by the community to file a judicial review (PK).

In response, Wayan and Bambang, as leaders of the Depok District Court, instructed Yohansyah to facilitate PT KD’s request.

“YOH was asked to engage in a clandestine agreement regarding a requested fee of IDR 1 billion from EKA and BBG to PT KD through Ms. BER, PT KD’s Head Corporate Legal, for the accelerated handling of the execution,” Asep stated during a press conference on Friday (6/2).

Yohansyah subsequently met with Berliana at a restaurant in Depok to discuss the fee and the timeline for the execution. Berliana then relayed the outcome of this meeting, including the fee demand, to Trisnadi.

The management of PT KD expressed reservations about the substantial fee. Negotiations ensued through Berliana.

“During the process, BER and YOH reached an agreement on a fee of IDR 850 million for the accelerated execution,” Asep revealed.

Following this agreement, Bambang prepared a summary document, which served as the basis for the land execution. This summary was subsequently approved by Wayan on January 14, 2026.

Shortly after the approval, Yohansyah proceeded with the land execution. Berliana had initially provided IDR 20 million to Yohansyah.

Some time after the execution, Berliana met Yohansyah again at a golf arena.

“In February 2026, BER once more met YOH at a golf arena and handed over IDR 850 million,” Asep detailed.

He added that the funds “originated from a check clearance with an underlying payment for a fictitious invoice from PT SKBB Consulting Solusindo (a consultant for PT KD) to the bank.”

It was during this handover process that the KPK conducted its sting operation, apprehending the suspects in the quiet operation.

Depok District Court Head Silent, Shakes Head as He Enters KPK Detention

Wayan offered no words to reporters. He merely clasped his hands together and shook his head while being escorted to a KPK detention vehicle.

Judicial Commission Expresses Dismay After Judge’s Arrest: Cites Recent 280% Salary Hike

The Judicial Commission (KY) voiced its full support and appreciation for the KPK following the arrest of Bambang Setyawan, Deputy Head of the Depok District Court, in a sting operation in Depok, West Java, on Thursday (5/2).

“KY supports the KPK’s actions to enforce the law regarding alleged transactional cases in judicial proceedings. KY deeply regrets this action, as it tarnishes the honor and dignity of a judge,” stated KY Deputy Chairman Desmihardi in a written statement on Friday (6/2).

Desmihardi affirmed that the KY and the Supreme Court (MA) share a common vision for achieving a clean judiciary.

He emphasized that Supreme Court Chief Justice Sunarto has unequivocally declared zero tolerance for any form of service misconduct, including transactional practices.

Therefore, the KY pledged to continue its synergy and support for the Supreme Court leadership in its efforts to cleanse the MA and subordinate judicial bodies.

“Transactional practices not only erode integrity but also diminish public trust in Indonesia’s judiciary. KY and MA will firmly apply a zero-tolerance principle, meaning there is no place for any form of violation or deviation, including in transactional services. KY, together with the MA, is ready to uphold the code of ethics and take decisive action,” Desmihardi asserted.

Desmihardi highlighted that President Prabowo Subianto had previously announced a significant salary increase of up to 280 percent for career judges. This policy underscored a commitment to judges’ welfare, and such an enhancement should ideally be met with a moral commitment from judges to uphold integrity and independence.

“However, the actions of the suspected Deputy Head of the Depok District Court have disregarded President Prabowo’s instruction, which specifically addressed the welfare of judges through increased allowances,” Desmihardi remarked.

As a subsequent step, Desmihardi added, the KY would promptly follow up on this case by coordinating with the KPK and the MA for further investigation.

Presidential Palace Reacts to Judge’s Arrest: Calls for Institutional Self-Improvement

The Presidential Palace responded to the KPK’s sting operation involving judges, specifically mentioning Bambang Setyawan, the Deputy Head of the Depok District Court. The Head of the Depok District Court and a bailiff were also reported to be among those caught in the KPK’s operation.

State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi acknowledged that increasing judges’ salaries would not automatically eradicate corrupt practices.

“Indeed, such an effort does not automatically completely eliminate undesirable practices within our judiciary,” Prasetyo stated at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Friday (6/2).

He continued, “But, as an effort to improve the welfare of judges, we hope that with improved welfare, they will not be tempted to engage in inappropriate actions.”

Prasetyo expressed concern over the persistent occurrences and urged all institutions to initiate self-improvement.

“The fact that these incidents still occur is certainly concerning, but we continuously appeal to all institutions to improve themselves. If we talk about corruption, it’s about how to stop the culture of corruption, collusion, and so forth,” he concluded.
