In a perplexing turn of events, Nabilah O’Brien, the esteemed owner of the Bibi Kelinci kopitiam, has been named a suspect in a theft case that reportedly occurred at her own restaurant on September 19, 2025. This shocking revelation was brought to light by O’Brien herself, who bravely shared her extraordinary predicament through a video uploaded to her personal Instagram account on Thursday, March 5.
“I am the victim of a theft who has inexplicably become the suspect, and I am being sued for Rp 1 billion,” she wrote in the first slide of her Instagram post, underscoring the astonishing nature of her situation.
In a poignant, minute-long video featured in the second slide, Nabilah emotionally recounted her despair and the immense pressure she has faced. “I am a victim of theft who has been designated a suspect by the National Police Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim Polri). I remained silent for five months because I was afraid to speak up and talk,” she stated, her voice filled with a plea for justice. “Today, I have gathered the courage to reveal this and seek justice.”
Adding to her distress, Nabilah further alleged that throughout these five months of silence, she was repeatedly pressured to confess that both her statements and the crucial CCTV footage from her restaurant were fabricated lies.
Nabilah also asserted that she has undertaken numerous efforts to defend herself in this complex case. The incident at her restaurant originally stemmed from CCTV footage in the kitchen, which captured a husband and wife, Zendhy Kusuma and Evi Santi, in an altercation with Bibi Kelinci’s head chef. The couple reportedly grew agitated over the delayed delivery of their order. However, Nabilah clarified that the restaurant was exceptionally busy on the date of the alleged incident, September 19, 2025.
According to Nabilah, she subsequently reported Zendhy and Evi to the authorities because they left the restaurant with 14 portions of food without making payment. She also detailed how the couple subjected her employees to intimidation. The total value of the unpaid food amounted to Rp 530,000.
A week after the incident, Nabilah filed a formal report against the couple at the Mampang Prapatan Police Station. However, despite her proactive steps, the case has yet to see a resolution and, surprisingly, led to her own designation as a suspect rather than the alleged perpetrators.
Concluding her emotional video update, Nabilah urgently appealed for legal protection from Commission III of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) and the National Police Chief. She directly tagged the official Instagram account of the DPR RI, Dr. Habiburokhman (Chairman of DPR RI Commission III), National Police Chief General Pol. Drs. Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and Rieke Diah Pitaloka (a member of DPR RI Commission XIII), amplifying her desperate plea for intervention and support from high-ranking officials.
“Esteemed members of DPR RI Commission III and Mr. National Police Chief, I humbly request legal protection for myself, a victim of theft,” she pleaded passionately. “I hope I can continue with my life, and I am confident that justice can be upheld in this matter.”
