JAKARTA – PT Pertamina Patra Niaga has lauded the consistent efforts of the National Police Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim Polri) in clamping down on the illicit practice of misusing subsidized fuel (BBM) and LPG. This vigorous enforcement action is deemed crucial for safeguarding the stability of national energy distribution.
Eko Ricky Susanto, Director of Retail Marketing for Pertamina Patra Niaga, stated in Jakarta on Wednesday that the company fully supports the robust law enforcement measures undertaken by Bareskrim Polri. These actions are vital to ensure the optimal distribution of subsidized energy resources.
“Pertamina Patra Niaga will continue to collaborate closely with law enforcement agencies. We are also committed to consistent oversight and ensuring the fair, appropriate, and targeted distribution of subsidized BBM and LPG to all eligible members of the public,” he affirmed during a press conference on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, where cases of subsidized fuel and LPG misuse were unveiled.
Furthermore, Eko Ricky emphasized that Pertamina Patra Niaga is continuously strengthening its supervision over distribution agencies through comprehensive training and decisive enforcement.

“Between January and March 2026, we conducted 136 training sessions for fuel distribution agencies and 237 for LPG distribution agencies, including both gas stations (SPBU) and LPG agents. Should any legal violations be proven, we will promptly terminate the business relationship with the offending distribution agency,” he asserted, highlighting the company’s firm stance against any illicit activities.
Earlier, at the same press conference, Deputy Head of Bareskrim Polri, Inspector General Nunung Syaifuddin, underscored the paramount importance of ensuring that subsidized BBM and LPG are genuinely received by the citizens who are entitled to them.
“There are still parties who exploit state subsidies as a means for illegal profit. They purchase subsidized BBM and LPG, then transfer, hoard, mix, and subsequently resell them at industrial prices to reap exorbitant profits due to the significant price disparity,” he explained, shedding light on the underlying motivations for these crimes.
Polri, Nunung added, will not tolerate any space for these energy criminals to operate.

Nunung also emphasized that law enforcement efforts would be carried out comprehensively and impartially.
“Hopefully, this will serve as a deterrent effect, both for rogue officials and business actors involved in these illicit schemes,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, Brigadier General Moh Irhamni, Director of Specific Crimes at Bareskrim Polri, presented the results of the investigation into criminal acts of subsidized BBM and LPG misuse from April 7 to April 21, 2026. This operation signifies Bareskrim’s unwavering commitment to consistent law enforcement across all regions of Indonesia.
“Our efforts over 13 days have yielded significant results, with 330 suspects apprehended across 223 crime scenes,” he stated, detailing the immediate impact of the crackdown.
According to him, the detected modus operandi includes repeated purchases of subsidized fuel for hoarding and resale, the use of vehicles with modified tanks, the employment of fake license plates to evade surveillance, and the transferring of subsidized LPG content into non-subsidized cylinders.
