The intricate details of the drug case ensnaring former Bima Kota Police Chief AKBP Didik Putra Kuncoro have been unveiled by Polri Head of Public Relations, Inspector General Johnny Eddizon Isir. He revealed that the extensive investigation, which ultimately implicated the high-ranking officer, originated from the unexpected arrest of two housemaids at the residence of a police officer identified as Bripka IR, also known as Karol, and his wife, AN.
“This critical breakthrough began with the apprehension of two housemaids associated with police officer suspect Bripka IR and his wife, AN. During their arrest, a substantial amount of methamphetamine, totaling 30.415 grams, was discovered at the private residence belonging to suspect Bripka IR and AN,” Johnny stated on Sunday (15/2), outlining the initial phase of the complex operation.
Following this initial discovery, investigators from the NTB Regional Police’s Narcotics Directorate meticulously pursued leads, meticulously deepening their probe. Their diligent efforts soon uncovered the involvement of another police official in the methamphetamine distribution network linked to Karol. This officer was identified as AKP ML, or Malaungi, who held the position of Head of the Narcotics Unit at Bima Police. Malaungi has since been formally dismissed from the Polri.
The seriousness of AKP ML’s alleged involvement was further substantiated when a urine test was conducted by the Sub-Directorate of Internal Affairs at the NTB Regional Police’s Propam Division. “Subbid Paminal Bid Propam Polda NTB conducted a urine test on AKP ML at the Bima Regency General Hospital, which yielded positive results for both amphetamine and methamphetamine,” Johnny confirmed, highlighting the definitive evidence against the officer.
Subsequently, investigators executed a thorough search of AKP Malaungi’s office and official residence. This operation proved fruitful, leading to the discovery of five packages of methamphetamine with a significant net weight of 488.496 grams. It was through this pivotal finding and subsequent interrogation that the full extent of AKBP Didik Putra Kuncoro’s alleged involvement in the illicit narcotics trade came to light.
AKBP Didik’s connection to the case became undeniable. “Based on the testimony provided by AKP ML, there was clear involvement from AKBP DPK in this alleged narcotics abuse,” Johnny explained, detailing the crucial link that escalated the investigation to a higher echelon of the police force.
The investigation then focused on AKBP Didik’s personal residence in Tangerang, where a search operation uncovered a wide array of illicit substances. The illicit stash included methamphetamine, ecstasy pills, and what is commonly known as “Happy Five” (nimetazepam), signaling a diverse and extensive engagement in drug possession and potential trafficking.
As a direct consequence of the overwhelming evidence, AKBP Didik has been officially named a narcotics suspect. Prosecutors have charged him under multiple articles, which carry severe penalties, including a maximum sentence of life imprisonment and fines reaching up to Rp 2 billion. Currently, he is undergoing special detention as he awaits an ethics trial related to his alleged misconduct and involvement in the high-profile drug case.
