Arus balik, Menteri PU pastikan infrastruktur jalan tol dalam kondisi baik

Menteri Pekerjaan Umum (PU), Dody Hanggodo, has assured the public that the Eid al-Fitr 1447 H return traffic flow is well under control, emphasizing the robust condition of the nation’s toll road infrastructure. His confirmation provides reassurance to millions of travelers making their way back home after the holiday period.

Speaking from the Kalikangkung Toll Gate (GT) on the Batang-Semarang Toll Road on Saturday, March 28, Dody Hanggodo reiterated the readiness of the toll roads, specifically highlighting their quality and operational integrity. “We guarantee that the toll roads are prepared for use, particularly concerning their quality standards,” he stated, reinforcing the commitment to a safe and smooth journey for all motorists.

However, Hanggodo also drew attention to potential challenges that could impact road conditions. He cited persistent heavy rainfall and the unauthorized presence of freight vehicles, which continue to operate despite existing restrictions. These factors, he warned, pose a significant risk of causing damage to the road surfaces.

“Despite our preparations, high rainfall, increased traffic volume, and the continued presence of freight vehicles during the restriction period collectively have the potential to cause damage, such as potholes, on the toll roads,” Dody explained, underscoring the delicate balance between natural elements and compliance with regulations.

To mitigate these risks and ensure uninterrupted traffic flow, Dody issued a clear directive: “If such conditions are identified, we mandate that repairs be carried out immediately, within a maximum of 1×24 hours, to prevent any disruption to the smooth progression of the return traffic.” This proactive measure aims to maintain road safety and efficiency throughout the critical return period.

At the same location, Rivan A. Purwantono, President Director of PT Jasa Marga, reported that the current return traffic flow is notably crowded but remains smooth. He highlighted the successful management of the peak traffic period on March 24, 2026, and noted that the subsequent increase in traffic on March 28-29, 2026, has also been effectively handled through close coordination with relevant authorities.

Rivan affirmed Jasa Marga’s comprehensive readiness: “We ensure all sections under the Jasa Marga Group are fully prepared to serve the public during both the 2026 Eid al-Fitr exodus and return periods. This is especially crucial now for road users heading back to Jakarta. With optimal service and robust infrastructure support, we are dedicated to providing a journey that is safe, comfortable, smooth, and secure across our toll roads.”

He further detailed the significant volume of vehicles returning, stating that as of Friday, March 27, approximately 2.5 million vehicles had already returned to the Jakarta area. This figure represents about 75% of the projected 3.39 million vehicles anticipated to return to Jabodetabek between March 11 and March 31, 2026. This data indicates that roughly 25% of road users were still expected to undertake their return journey on March 28–29, 2026.

To enhance the travel experience, Rivan concluded by emphasizing continuous efforts to optimize rest areas. “We are constantly evaluating and refining rest areas, focusing on both traffic management and capacity. Road users are also encouraged to utilize alternative rest areas situated near toll exit accesses along the Trans Java Toll Road, spanning from the Semarang–Solo Toll Road KM 444 to the Jakarta–Cikampek Toll Road KM 72. This ensures travelers always have choices available should the main rest areas on the toll road experience high congestion.”
