Teknowarta – Adhitia Putra Herawan, Deputy CEO of PT Persib Bandung Bermartabat, has shed light on the strategic coaching reshuffle that sees Igor Tolic take over the reins from Bojan Hodak. Adhitia explained that this significant transition was made after careful consideration, focusing on the long-term continuity and stability of the Pangeran Biru (Blue Princes) squad.
Persib Bandung made this bold move shortly after clinching the 2025/2026 Super League title. While the management has relieved Hodak of his duties as head coach, the Croatian tactician will remain an integral part of the organization. He has been appointed to the newly created role of Shareholders Group Technical Advisor.
Stepping into the spotlight as the new head coach is Igor Tolic. The 48-year-old is a familiar face within the club, having previously served as the assistant coach. This promotion marks a significant step up for Tolic as he takes full responsibility for the defending champions.

Persib’s management is well aware that such a drastic change in the coaching structure may spark various reactions from the Bobotoh (Persib fans). Hodak’s tenure was nothing short of legendary; he became the club’s most successful coach by leading them to a historic “hat-trick” of three consecutive league titles—a feat never before achieved by an Indonesian club.
However, the decision-makers view this shift as part of an evolution aimed at strengthening the organization and maintaining the winning foundation built over the past few seasons. By appointing Tolic, the club aims to preserve the tactical and cultural progress established during Hodak’s successful three-season run.
“What Persib is doing today is part of a continuity process. We want to ensure that the strong foundation built over the last few seasons continues to grow and remains a core strength for the club moving forward,” Adhitia stated, as reported by Persib Bandung’s official website on Tuesday (May 26).

Adhitia acknowledged that Hodak’s impact on Persib Bandung’s history is profound. Entrusting him with the role of Shareholders Group Technical Advisor is intended as a mark of the club’s deep appreciation for his contributions.
“Coach Bojan has made extraordinary contributions to Persib through his achievements, the mentality he instilled, and the high standards he set for the team. We express our highest appreciation for his dedication and leadership throughout this historic journey,” Adhitia explained.
Regarding Tolic’s appointment, Adhitia expressed full confidence. He emphasized that the 48-year-old coach already possesses a deep understanding of the club’s culture and the players’ characters, having been a key figure in the team’s historic hat-trick of titles.
“Coach Igor understands the team culture, knows the players’ characters, and has been part of the successful journey we’ve shared over the last few seasons. We believe that continuity and adaptability are vital assets as we face the next chapter,” Adhitia added.
Adhitia concluded by acknowledging that while the decision might cause a stir among the fans, he urged the Bobotoh to remain steadfast in their support. He emphasized that every step taken is for the club’s long-term benefit.
“We understand that change always brings about various emotions. However, we hope the Bobotoh can see this move as part of the club’s long-term growth and evolution. The support and trust of the Bobotoh will always be Persib’s greatest strength,” Adhitia concluded.
