Update gempa 6,5 M Pacitan: Sejumlah rumah rusak di Wonogiri dan Pacitan


A powerful magnitude 6.5 earthquake, with its epicenter located in Pacitan, East Java, struck in the early hours of Friday, (6/2). The tremors were widely felt across several regions, including Kulon Progo, Trenggalek, Wonogiri, Malang, Cirebon, Blitar, Surakarta, Karanganyar, Magelang, Jombang, Tulungagung, Ponorogo, Magetan, Nganjuk, Wonosobo, and Banjarnegara, highlighting its significant reach across the island.

Daryono, the Director of Earthquakes and Tsunamis at the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), confirmed that the seismic event resulted in damage to several homes. Initial reports received by the agency detailed one particular incident in Pacitan, the regency closest to the earthquake’s epicenter.

“There was a report of one house completely collapsing in Ploso Village, Pacitan District, Pacitan Regency,” Daryono stated in an official release. The impact of the quake was not limited to Pacitan alone, as other areas also experienced structural damage. Notably, Wonogiri Regency reported damage, with homes sustaining issues primarily affecting their roofs or tiles. “One house roof was reported damaged in the Jatisrono District, Wonogiri Regency,” he added.

The BMKG emphasized that the reported data on damage remains preliminary and is continuously evolving. The agency is actively awaiting further comprehensive reports regarding the full extent of the earthquake’s impact across all affected regions. This latest event followed a series of seismic activities, as a total of 16 aftershocks were recorded subsequent to the main magnitude 6.5 tremor that shook Pacitan, East Java, in the early hours of Friday.
