Her passing followed a period of declining health, during which Meri had been admitted to the hospital twice before her final moments.

Her son, Aditya Soetanto Hoegeng, speaking from the funeral home, shared insights into his mother’s health journey. “Indeed, Mother was hospitalized twice. The first week was in mid-October. She was discharged and allowed to return home, but after just two days, Mother refused to eat, which presented significant difficulties for us,” Aditya recounted, detailing the challenges faced during that period.

Following this initial setback, Meri’s health deteriorated further, leading to her being rushed back to the hospital in late January. Her condition progressively worsened from that point until her demise on February 3rd.

Aditya further elaborated on this critical phase, stating, “So, ultimately, we had to take Mother back to the hospital for the second time. Her condition steadily declined from January 26th until today,” referring to the day of her passing.
