Dadan Hindayana Dismissed as Head of the National Nutrition Agency

Tuesday morning, June 2nd, marked a pivotal moment for Dadan Hindayana. Accompanying President Prabowo Subianto on a visit to the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG), also known as the MBG kitchen, in Palmerah, West Jakarta, proved to be his final engagement as the Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN).

Later that evening, President Prabowo announced Dadan’s removal from his post. The announcement was delivered by State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi at the Presidential Office in Central Jakarta, flanked by Cabinet Secretary Lieutenant Colonel Teddy Indra Wijaya and Head of Bakom M. Qodari.

Prasetyo highlighted the critical role of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) in executing President Prabowo’s priority programs. He emphasized that President Prabowo consistently conducts comprehensive evaluations, including of the BGN’s performance.

“Following approximately one and a half years of monitoring and evaluation, today, Tuesday, June 2, 2026, the President decided to change the leadership of the BGN,” Prasetyo stated, confirming that “the first individual affected is Mr. Dadan Hindayana as the Head of BGN.”

Prasetyo elaborated that several findings from this extensive evaluation served as the basis for the leadership change. These concerns ranged from issues of disciplinary adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to critical lapses in food quality.

“Some issues related to discipline in implementing SOPs, others pertained to discipline in governance, including the discipline required to maintain the quality of food as stipulated by the National Nutrition Agency. These specific matters formed the basis for consideration over the past 1.5 years,” he explained, underscoring the gravity of the detected shortcomings.

Dadan Hindayana’s role will now be assumed by Nanik S Deyang, who previously served as Deputy Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN). However, Prasetyo did not specify a date for Nanik’s official inauguration by President Prabowo.

“We will announce that in due course,” Prasetyo stated.

Despite the pending inauguration date, Prasetyo confirmed that the newly appointed BGN officials are expected to commence their duties immediately. “It is certain that with the appointment of new officials, they can promptly carry out their functions and responsibilities as required,” he affirmed.

He further assured the public that this leadership transition would not impede the implementation of the crucial Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG). “The government once again affirms that this change in leadership will not disrupt our commitment to executing the Free Nutritious Meal Program, which is a vital initiative undertaken by the National Nutrition Agency,” he reiterated.

The updated roster of BGN officials is as follows:

  • Head of BGN: Nanik S Deyang

  • Deputy Head of BGN: Agustina Arumsari

  • Deputy Head of BGN: Major General TNI Trenggono

DPR Commends Leadership Change at National Nutrition Agency

The government’s decision to replace the leadership of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has garnered praise from the House of Representatives (DPR). Deputy Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad expressed his appreciation for the move.

“We received information and listened to the State Secretary’s press conference regarding the change in the Head of BGN,” Dasco stated at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Monday, June 2nd.

He continued, “Naturally, the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia extends its appreciation to the government, which has heeded the aspirations of both the public and beneficiaries, alongside the outcomes of inter-ministerial coordination and input from the DPR itself.”

According to Dasco, President Prabowo Subianto’s decision to evaluate the BGN leadership reflects the government’s responsiveness to various public inputs and cross-sectoral coordination results. “Consequently, the government, through the President, has made a decision to conduct an evaluation of the BGN leadership, which, as we heard from the State Secretary, encompasses the Head of BGN and two Deputy Heads,” he explained.

Dasco affirmed that the government had undertaken thorough monitoring and evaluation of the National Nutrition Agency’s (BGN) performance prior to deciding on the leadership change. He indicated that several observations highlighted the necessity for institutional improvements.

“Indeed, listening to the State Secretary’s explanation regarding the evaluation, there were specific areas identified by the government. These included aspects of governance and perceived insufficiencies in inter-ministerial cooperation, among other points that, from the government’s perspective, require rectification,” Dasco elaborated.

He further added that this evaluation underscored the need for enhanced coordination and refined operational systems to ensure the BGN’s programs are implemented more effectively on the ground. “Regarding these specific concerns, the government is naturally in the best position to know the details,” he remarked.

Dasco firmly asserted that the leadership transition would not impede public services or ongoing programs. Instead, it is anticipated to enable the BGN to intensify its focus on necessary reforms. “With this comprehensive evaluation, the BGN is poised to improve itself and continue its dedicated service to the community and beneficiaries,” he concluded.

DPR to Coordinate Swiftly with New National Nutrition Agency Head

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, lauded President Prabowo Subianto’s decision to appoint Nanik S Deyang as the new Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), considering it an excellent choice.

This positive assessment stems from Nanik’s proactive track record and hands-on engagement in field operations during her tenure as Deputy Head of BGN.

Dasco noted that Nanik demonstrated direct involvement in supervising and monitoring program implementation on the ground, despite her relatively short time as Deputy Head of BGN. “Indeed, if we look at Mrs. Nanik’s performance, she served as Deputy Head of BGN for a relatively short period, yet she undertook extensive field work, conducted numerous on-site monitoring activities, and even closed down several substandard kitchens in the field,” Dasco explained at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday, June 2nd.

Dasco further indicated that this assessment was also corroborated by the monitoring results from DPR Commission IX, which serves as the BGN’s parliamentary partner. “This aligns with the findings from our colleagues in the relevant technical commission, which were subsequently discussed during deliberations on the Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG),” he added.

He clarified that direct involvement in field operational oversight is a paramount aspect for fulfilling the responsibilities of the BGN’s leadership. Therefore, Dasco viewed the President’s decision to appoint Nanik to head the agency as well-founded.

“Thus, in our estimation, the President’s decision to make this appointment, while being a prerogative of the government and specifically the President, is likely the appropriate choice,” Dasco elaborated.

Dasco acknowledged that the government undoubtedly holds its own considerations when making such significant decisions. “Yes, I believe the government has its own rationale, and the new leadership will certainly be assessed by the public and beneficiaries, and, of course, the DPR will also closely monitor their performance,” he stated.

Furthermore, Dasco emphasized that DPR Commission IX would promptly coordinate with the new BGN leadership to discuss future work plans and institutional governance improvements. “I believe Commission IX will immediately initiate coordination to understand the new BGN leadership’s plans for improvement and to further enhance the governance of the National Nutrition Agency,” Dasco affirmed.

This coordination, Dasco explained, serves as the DPR’s initial step to grasp the policy direction of the new BGN leadership, simultaneously ensuring that governance improvements are implemented more effectively and measurably.
