The Bekasi Metro Police have made significant breakthroughs in the shocking murder case of a 66-year-old South Korean national, identified as BCS. The victim was discovered deceased and covered in blood at his residence in Kampung Buaran RT 04 RW 02, Lambangsari Village, Tambun Selatan District, Bekasi Regency, on Wednesday, May 27, 2026. This gruesome discovery quickly led to the arrest of two individuals, identified by their initials SJ and HW. Metro Bekasi Police Chief, Commissioner Sumarni, has since unveiled the chilling motive behind this premeditated act.
The horrific discovery was made by the victim’s child on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, around 2:30 PM local time. Upon entering the house, the child noticed the residence was unusually dark, with only the dining room light illuminated. Repeated calls to BCS went unanswered, prompting a search. The child then found BCS lying face down and drenched in blood in the dining room, immediately alerting the authorities.
Local residents painted a picture of the victim as a kind and friendly individual. Iyan (21), a neighbor, described BCS as “very good” and well-regarded in the community. Despite his amiable nature, BCS reportedly kept to himself, rarely venturing outside his home. He had resided alone in the neighborhood for a considerable period, according to local testimonies, reinforcing the shocking nature of his violent death.
A joint investigation by the Satreskrim Unit of the Bekasi Metro Police and the Tambun Sector Police quickly led to the apprehension of the two primary suspects, SJ and HW. Investigators revealed that SJ is the victim’s former wife and a former candidate for the Bekasi Regency Regional House of Representatives (DPRD). Preliminary examinations suggest that SJ meticulously orchestrated the murder plan over approximately six months. Authorities seized crucial evidence, including CCTV footage, mobile phones, clothing worn by the perpetrators, bank passbooks, a vehicle, and a T-shaped iron bar believed to have been prepared for the attack.
Police Chief Sumarni elaborated on the complex motives driving SJ, citing a potent mix of revenge, deep-seated resentment stemming from alleged violence perpetrated by the victim, and a strong desire to seize BCS’s assets. HW, on the other hand, confessed to accepting the grim offer due to pressing economic difficulties and family needs. During a press conference on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, Commissioner Sumarni stated, “Based on these reasons, SJ commissioned HW, whom she had known from a gym, to carry out the murder of the victim for a payment of IDR 139 million, disbursed in three stages.” SJ was arrested on Friday, May 29, 2026, in Lambangsari Village, Tambun Selatan, close to the victim’s home, while HW was apprehended in Jatimekar, Jatiasih, Bekasi City.
The execution of the murder was brutal and deliberate. HW first stabbed the victim in the left abdomen with a fruit knife, then proceeded to strike the back of BCS’s head with a dumbbell, ensuring his death. Following the heinous act, HW stole the victim’s laptop, CCTV DVR, and BCA ATM card. The ATM card was subsequently handed over to SJ, while the laptop and DVR were destroyed to erase evidence. The murder weapon, a fruit knife, was discarded into the Kalimalang River. Furthermore, in an attempt to obliterate any traces, HW burned the blue hoodie, black hat, and gloves he wore during the crime near his workplace. It was at this workplace, in the Jatikramat area of Jatiasih, Bekasi City, that HW was ultimately apprehended.
Both SJ and HW now face severe legal consequences for their actions. They have been charged under Articles 459 and 458 of Law No. 1 Year 2023 concerning the Criminal Code (KUHP), which carries a maximum penalty of life imprisonment or a prison sentence of up to 20 years.
