
The owners of Marwah Catering, a Wedding Organizer (WO) based in East Jakarta, a married couple identified by their initials RM and ER, have been officially named suspects in an alleged fraud case impacting dozens of prospective couples. The duo was apprehended by police in Bandung Barat after a period of evading authorities, moving between various locations.
Head of Public Relations for the East Jakarta Metro Police, Aipda I Gusti MP, confirmed that RM and ER were arrested by the Resmob Team of the East Jakarta Metro Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit. Their apprehension took place at a rented house located in Batulayang Village, Cililin District, Bandung Barat Regency, West Java.
Police revealed that during the initial search, the suspects were not present at their registered Wedding Organizer office in East Jakarta. They reportedly moved from one location to another before finally being secured in Bandung Barat Regency. Investigators are currently delving into whether the couple deliberately intended to flee. Furthermore, inquiries are underway to trace the flow of the victims’ funds, which are believed to have been utilized by the suspects.
East Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Commissioner Alfian Nurizal, previously stated that RM and ER are facing charges under Article 492 of the Criminal Code concerning fraudulent acts and Article 486 of the Criminal Code regarding embezzlement. Both suspects have been held in custody since Saturday, May 30, 2026.

The extensive case came to light after the East Jakarta Metro Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit began receiving reports of alleged fraud perpetrated by Marwah Catering Wedding Organizer against dozens of unsuspecting prospective couples. Police confirmed that the perpetrators were a husband and wife duo, RM and ER, who have since been detained.
Preliminary data indicates a staggering 58 prospective couples have fallen victim to the alleged scheme. Of these, two couples proceeded with their weddings but did not receive the promised facilities, while a significant 56 other couples had their planned wedding events entirely canceled or never materialized.
As of now, the total interim losses recorded from 24 identified victims amount to approximately Rp 2.6 billion. This figure is anticipated to rise as the police continue the process of identifying and documenting other affected individuals.
