Bareskrim Investigates Whip Pink Consumers Following Reports of Temporary Paralysis

The National Police Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim Polri) has unveiled significant new findings in its ongoing investigation into the alleged abuse of nitrous oxide (N₂O) gas, commonly known as “laughing gas,” sold under the brand name Whip Pink. The probe intensified after one consumer admitted to using the product for approximately three months, having purchased it online.

Kombes Pol Zulkarnain Harahap, Head of Subdirectorate III at Bareskrim Polri’s Directorate of Narcotics Crime, confirmed that investigators have interviewed several individuals who consumed the product. Among them is AM (29), who first encountered Whip Pink at a club in the upscale Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) area of North Jakarta. Zulkarnain stated in an announcement on Friday, May 29, that AM became aware of the N₂O gas product being sold in balloons at the PIK club. Subsequently, AM directly ordered the product via Instagram, which then redirected the purchase through the Whip Pink administrator’s WhatsApp.

AM further disclosed that these orders for Whip Pink N₂O gas products commenced from January to March 2026, specifically for personal consumption. During the interrogation, AM also revealed suffering from health complications strongly suspected to be linked to the gas usage. Zulkarnain elaborated that AM required intensive medical treatment at a hospital in the Tangerang region after experiencing a severe loss of control over body limbs, particularly the legs. This alarming condition culminated in AM suffering temporary paralysis, leading to a fall down the stairs at home.

Beyond AM, investigators also questioned another consumer identified by the initials CD. According to the examination results, CD admitted to ordering Whip Pink more than five times between mid-2025 and early 2026. The online purchasing method involved searching for “whip cream” on Google, which then directed CD to a WhatsApp administrator for order placement. Zulkarnain confirmed that CD had placed over five orders, acquiring both 640g and 950g sizes of the product within that timeframe. CD described the method of consumption: inserting a nozzle into the mouth and twisting it to release the N₂O gas. Purchases were completed by filling out a form provided via the business WhatsApp account of PT SSS.

Currently, Bareskrim continues to thoroughly investigate the alleged misuse of Whip Pink, a topic that has recently garnered significant attention across social media platforms. The product has come under intense scrutiny due to suspicions that it is being used as a substitute for illicit drugs. In a stern move, Bareskrim Polri is preparing to forcibly apprehend other key witnesses who have failed to comply with two previous summonses. These include a female celebrity influencer known by the initials ZNM and a male YouTuber identified as RV, both implicated in the alleged consumption of N₂O gas from Whip Pink canisters.

Previously, Bareskrim had scheduled examinations for a number of witnesses, including various Instagram influencers and YouTubers suspected of having purchased or used the product. Police are also actively scrutinizing consumers believed to have made hundreds of purchases. Brigjen Eko Hadi Santoso, Director of Narcotics Crime at Bareskrim Polri, explained that these summonses were issued following comprehensive investigative steps. These included interviewing employees of PT Suplaindo Sukses Sejahtera (SSS), meticulously analyzing sales documents, and conducting digital forensic examinations on the mobile phones of the sales force. Based on these findings—the testimonies of PT Suplaindo Sukses Sejahtera workers, the analysis of sales records, and the digital forensics of salesmen’s mobile devices—Subdirectorate III is now moving forward to summon several consumers who purchased Whip Pink canisters.
