DKI Jakarta’s Vice Governor, Rano Karno, presided over the solemn Idul Adha 1447 Hijriah/2026 prayers held in the expansive courtyard of the DKI Jakarta City Hall Complex on Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday, May 27th. This significant annual event brought together the community to observe one of Islam’s most important holidays.

A vibrant atmosphere permeated the City Hall grounds as early as 6:00 AM WIB, with residents already filling the area. Observers noted a palpable sense of anticipation and devotion among the attendees, who arrived dressed in their finest Muslim attire and carrying their prayer equipment, eager to partake in the special Idul Adha prayers.

Vice Governor Rano Karno himself was a distinguished presence, clad in a crisp white koko shirt and a traditional black peci. He was accompanied by several high-ranking DKI provincial officials and observed the sacred rituals with deep solemnity alongside the congregants. It was noted that DKI Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung, was concurrently performing the Hajj pilgrimage in the Holy Land.

In the Governor’s absence, Vice Governor Rano Karno graciously assumed leadership for a number of ceremonial engagements marking the Idul Adha celebrations across the capital city, underscoring his pivotal role in the administration.

Addressing reporters at the DKI City Hall, Rano Karno expressed his gratitude, stating, “Alhamdulillah, today we have just concluded the Idul Adha 1447 Hijriah, or the year 2026 CE, prayers here in the City Hall courtyard. These prayers were conducted in conjunction with residents from the Kebon Sirih vicinity and, God willing, were open to the general public.” His remarks highlighted the inclusive nature of the religious observance.

This year, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government embraced a profound theme for its Idul Adha commemoration: “Sincere Sacrifice, Total Dedication in Service.” This theme resonated with the core values of the holiday, emphasizing compassion and commitment to the community.

The sacred prayers were led by K.H. Muhammad Ali HM, the distinguished Chairman of the LPTQ (Institute for the Development of Quranic Reading) of DKI Jakarta Province. Following the congregational prayer, the enlightening Idul Adha sermon was delivered by Dr. K.H. Muhammad Faiz Syukron Ma’mun, who serves as the Chairman of the MUI (Indonesian Ulema Council) for DKI Jakarta.

Upon the conclusion of the prayers, Vice Governor Rano Karno’s itinerary included a crucial tour to inspect several designated points for the distribution of qurban animals. One significant stop was on Jalan Ibrahim, Gang Langgar, Tamansari, West Jakarta, where the sacrificial offerings were specifically allocated to assist residents who had been victims of a devastating fire in September 2025.

Elaborating on his post-prayer agenda, Rano Karno confirmed, “I will be visiting several locations, particularly for the distribution of sacrificial cattle. The first site is on Jalan Ibrahim, Gang Langgar, Tamansari, in West Jakarta. The qurban will be presented to residents who suffered losses from the fire that occurred in September 2025.” This initiative underscored the compassionate aspect of the Idul Adha celebration.

Beyond the sacred act of qurban distribution, Rano Karno also scheduled a visit to North Gandaria. This visit was planned to extend official appreciation to local residents who had achieved remarkable success, winning the prestigious Siskamling (Community Security System) competition across all of DKI Jakarta.

Further detailing his movements, Rano Karno added, “Subsequently, I will deliver sacrificial cattle to Jalan Hidup Baru 3, Gang Haji Jeni, North Gandaria in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta.” This highlighted a second important qurban distribution point on his agenda.

Emphasizing the dual purpose of his visit to Gandaria, he continued, “Well, Alhamdulillah, I will also be visiting several areas such as North Gandaria because I was informed that they are the champions of Siskamling throughout DKI Jakarta, simultaneously demonstrating a commitment to the security and comfort of their citizens.” This recognition acknowledged the community’s proactive efforts in maintaining local safety.

According to Rano Karno, Gandaria’s success in community security was largely attributed to various technology-based security innovations. These cutting-edge measures ranged from comprehensive Siskamling training and advanced CCTV installations to ID and GPS trackers, and even integrated panic button alarms linked to a central command center, showcasing a modern approach to neighborhood watch.

Concluding his remarks, Rano Karno commended their ingenuity: “The RT (neighborhood unit head) is quite creative. They have developed various technologies to ensure the security of their area. That is precisely why I am making a special trip there—to offer my appreciation and to also provide qurban.” This statement beautifully intertwined the themes of community recognition and charitable giving, marking a memorable Idul Adha celebration for DKI Jakarta.
